Oil Change Amount Issues

Let me start my saying I regularly check the oil level, and it has always appeared full since delivery.

Now... I just did the first oil change in my 2010 LE. I only got about 1.25 qts. out of it. I also jacked the back end up and down a couple times to aid in draining. I'm sure there was some in the filter and spilled on the skid plate as well:) Upon filling, I only got 1.5 qts. in before it appeared full.

So... was my oil actually low? Did I not get all the oil drained? Should I pour the other .5 qt. in anyway?

Allen, Go by the dipstick. I know the oil capacity is suppose to be 2 quarts, but I've found I'm always too full after an oil change. You're not seeing things, this has been a common topic. Some folks pour in 2 quarts regardless and no one has reported any issues that I've seen. Your call, but I usually go by the dipstick....but always keep it at the top mark on the stick.

If your RZR motor isn't exactly level...tilted toward the rear a bit...the oil filter isn't going to fill when you add oil, and all the oil lines that may have drained back are going to be empty.

Thus either put in the two quarts...start it and I'll be the level is correct after warm up and shut down. Or put in 1.5 quarts, start it up, warm it up and then top off the oil. Bet its another .5 quarts.

Or do as I did and put in the Ultimate Rhino oil filter relocation kit. Now my filter is easy to remove with no spillage and the system now holds nearly 3 quarts of oil.

the original oil fill was 1.5 or 1.8 qts but they just rounded it up to 2 qts since as seen here it was to hard for people to fill it you will never get every last drop of oil out so dont worry just drain and refill with 2 qts and ride.... dont sweat it over a couple oz not worth the time or energy its a dirt toy not a NASA rocket...

Look the kit up on Rhino 660 Oil Filter Relocation Kit for the Polaris RZR.

Probably a couple of hour job. Took me a little longer since I running the DFR sealed air cannister. But, it works great, the oil filter is vertical, out of the way of anything that could damage it, and it added to the oil capacity. I have sent Joe Allard of UltimateRhinos my install pics and they should be available from Joe.
