2016 900 s eps. Ran perfect. Shut it off. Washed it. Started it and moved it to the building. Went hours later to ride and big backfire through the intake manifold blowing it into 5 pieces. Replaced it and tried starting it again and this happened again. Replaced it the 3rd time and reset timing. New chain tensioner. And one way bearing. After test there is no injector pulse to the driver’s side injector. Tried to start after retiming it and it backfired through the exhaust couple times then the intake blowing it off the boots but not apart this time. I’m lost to what could be causing this issue. Both injectors are good they have been swapped around. Fuel pump is kicking on and reads 60psi on my tester with a slow leak down. If not cranked right away. Bounces from 55-60 psi while cranking. I have also replaced the cps. Someone please help.

The reason I said that is that its the ECU is the unit that gathers all the information and sends it to the injectors. You have one that is not working even when you swap injectors which makes me think its in the wiring or maybe the ECU. Maybe if you know someone you could swap out an ECU and see if that solves the problem. good luck Another thought ask your local dealer if they can test an ECU off the rig. Just a thought.

I wish I knew someone with a spare ecu I could check it with. Called the dealer. 650$+tax for a new one and don’t really wanna waste 650$ and not know for sure that’s what it is. And I’m afraid to buy a used one.

The MAG side is the only injector that pulses while cranking. The PTO side pulses when the ECU sees a certain engine speed. I'd assume you have a timing issue if you've got backfiring.
I hate to report back that stupidly the spark plug wires got switched around. Lmao and I feel like it was probably the problem the whole time. Because as soon as they got corrected it fired straight up. And yes after a lot of research I did also find out that only one fires until said rpm is met then the second one starts firing.

Thanks for letting the forum know what the finial solution was. I suspect the original problem was fixed with the parts swapping and during that time somehow the wires got crossed. Glad you got it figured out.

I have to say that I suspect that I did myself cross the plug wires not thinking about it and this being a new ride over thought what was causing it. The only code that came up was crank sensor code and would make sense if it was firing backwards. But I am having a stumbling problem while cruising down the road. It don’t ever die or stall. Just intermittently while 25mph or faster it cuts about half power then come right back to normal.
