New RZR-S spring upgrade or not?

On our ride today we had Three RZR-S Models show up, one with a build date of July 09 and we were noticing that the springs were different. The newer S spring had less coils and a wider gap between the coils, front and rear.
Was this an upgrade? what is the difference? harder, softer etc....?????
Should are old springs get updated??

What is the spring rate on the "S"? I know the standard RZR is 100lbs. front and 170lbs. rear. On the "S" I read somewhere where guys were using the rear springs on the front??

I was at my dealer yesterday afternoon picking up a new RZR LE and the first 2010 S they sold came back in with 3 broken springs, and in looking at the new 2010 they had in stock, it had a driver rear spring that was broken on it. It appears that the spring producer may have used a run of bad steel in producing the springs for the late 09 and 2010 S models. Time will tell.

That make's me think of a ride I did with Steve, up in Silverwood. There was a guy there with a brand new S and he hated it because it rode so hard and hurt his back, the funny thing was we weren't on anything very bumpy. Did not know about the different springs at the time, wonder if he had them?

I called him and ordered mine today for the S. Man I have to learn to read better. I totally misread the information on the site. I was going to pay 400 for one set of springs. Site says "kit" meaning all four :). I my defense though, I've been reading someone elses undocumented code, and trying to trouble shoot the program.

So I got my spring system for my S... and have some questions for those who have installed them, or Steve from MaxxTraxx.

Do I install the top coil on the front springs? I dont think I am supposed to.

The long ones go in the back right?

Thanks for the help!

225 on the front and 250 on the rear. No tender (small spring) spring on the front Set at "0" preload plus 1 to 1-1/2 turns to hold the spring.

If polaris would have wanted us to be adjusting these things, they would have given us a way to adjust them and a free wrench to do it with!! Oh wait.... never mind....

I've got stock 09 springs on the LE... YUP they SUCK

Got stock fox on the S --- they are 100 times better, dont know if they sagged, as they have adjustments to mess with.

Got a set of walkers on MY 09 LE - HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Waiting to get my afco's with springs back to try them. Steve, U get them going back to Moodys yet??

One thing is for sure, no matter what color they are, or what sound they make, Springs and Shocks should be the #1 performance upgrade is you plan on doing more than putting around the yard.

Steve. Can you get your springs the same color red as the stock S shocks. I dont want silver like i saw on big mikes. I like the red. and how hard is it to take apart the shock and replace the spring myself? never messed with shocks before.

Also ive read about the difference between the springs but what will i actually notice when driving between the 2 springs, if that question makes sense?

Maybe its like SUMMERS EVE (lady product) marketing, you say not feeling so fresh down there-and they run out and buy the prouduct when you put suggestion in thier head.So when you say is your rzr sagging down there we can help im ready to bust out the plastic.......so moral to the story is some need it some dont,it would be so much easyer if i could just sniff my springs too see if i need new ones or not :rofl3:
