We had some questions about the new 2.0 IDD display. Here are the details from the Polaris accessories catalog. Sounds pretty Awesome.

NEW FEATURES
• Control of Bluetooth® audio media streaming with track
and artist display

• Backup camera display (If enabled and supported by hardware,
will be shown when shifting to reverse.)

• Forward camera display (If enabled and supported by
hardware, will be added to the main screens when cycling using
the far left button)

• Exporting capabilities for created tracks and waypoints from the
display to USB drive

• Course up arrow option with rotating background map
now available

• Distance to a selected waypoint shown on the map screen

• Automatic day/night brightness change based on time of day
and day of year

• New riding screen with increased visibility to important
diagnostics, gear indicator enlarges on gear change

The reverse camera is part number 2881653 and is $99.99
We don't have these new displays in stock yet, but should pretty soon.

Just thought I would share.

Sounds like 90%+ could be done with a $150.00 tablet.
Will the 1.0 do bluetooth? If not than it probably doesn't have the hardware for the full upgrade to 2.0. If so it might be just a software update, provided the old units have the adiquet memory and power to run it.
With the supporting apps and hardware a tablet could do all of the above mentioned features and show movies too.

Agree on tablet side, but honestly after using it on a long trip, I prefer PIDD. It's nice having it integrated with speedo, etc.

Current unit has Bluetooth that shows incoming calls, messages, etc so I would think it will work. Only thing I'm not sure on is memory, etc. if 2.0 had a bigger screen I would have mine listed in classifieds, my only real complaint on unit.

Have fun keeping them clean enough to see anything.
Depends where you drive lol. Easy to do in the sand

Actual mudding yes, but hopefully it has a coating on it to help.

I didn't get a response from the RiderX Tech Support Team as I was told so I sent Kayla an email stating that.
She responded by appologizing for the Tech Team and told me an update was coming PRIOR to 2016. Since my question regarding whether all the updates in Version 2 would apply to Version 1 displays was never answered, I asked again. Have not heard back, maybe next week.
For me the most important update that I want is the option for Course Up.
I guess the new displays are getting V2 installed when they leave the manufacturer? Strange that the update would not be available on RiderX. On the other hand, it shouldn't surprise me that Polaris and RiderX can't communicate either. Reminds me of government agencies and how they don't share info as well.

You would think the course up option could be included in any update. That is my main issue with this unit. Should have been included from the start - so basic.
I already have the Bluetooth in my Rugged Radio Intercom/VHF Radio and since I am in CA I listen to everything in my helmet speakers. I don't need or care about reading texts and emails on it. If I can't get the Course Up - just have to get used to navigating with North Up.

Duner you are correct about the other cables not in V1.

Like I said, course up specifically RiderX responded saying it was in the works way before 2.0 was even announced. I'll be pretty pissed if they block the update just to sell more 2.0 units. In one way north up isn't the worst thing ever. Once you get used to reading that way, it's probably a good thing so you reference is always the same.

Here is their response;

My apologies if you have not already heard back from our other support team. It looks like this update will be released for PIDD users before 2016. I am unfortunately not able to disclose the anticipated release date for this update, but can tell you that it will be public before next year.

Thank you for your patience with us. Sorry again for our delay in response. Keep enjoying the ride.

It is general speak, really didn't answer my questions but I have to consider this person is the "messenger" and is very cordial.

This is the reply from RiderX to my follow up questions:

"1- We are unable to share exact release dates for PIDD updates, but "Course Up" will be an update released for you soon, yes.
2- All software updates that we have for PIDD users will be included in your trail updates. You will not see these as separate files when you update your trails, we integrate the PIDD updates with the trail data "back stage" (if you will) in efforts to make the update process as simple as possible."

Kayla at RiderX is doing the best she can to get information from Tech Section. My main concern has been addressed and am happy. Just have to wait for the actual update to be released to see what all the changes are and which ones will carry over to the 2015 Version 1 digital units. Thanks to Kayla at RiderX for her patience.

This answers a couple things. Sounds like no dealer visit is required and RiderX owns 100% of the software releases/updates. Hopefully they are using the same source code across all units and just block items where hardware compatibility isn't there. Similar to how Apple does it for iPhone software. This means we should get the updates that are software based on 1.0 units for the most part.

Itstoolate, what version of the software do you have? Can you take a screenshot of what the display shows as your current software/firmware? I just did the update fresh from RiderX and my 2015 Fox still does not have a selection of north/course up anywhere I can find. I have been hounding RiderX for this for months! Glad I wasn't the only one...
