Ok, so I know this is totally my fault but I did it and now have to fix it...hopefully!

While installing my new axles/CV's in my RZR I was having difficulty getting one of them in so I hit the end with a hammer...not a brass hammer. Not thinking about it then I didn't realize it would smash my threads on the end of the CV I was hitting it at.

So what I have is the big brass nut that holds the CV in place on the hub/spindle will not get started because the first 2 threads are smashed. How do I fix this??? I tried getting a small screw driver and punch the threads back to normal but I didn't have any luck. The next option I'm thinking about is taking a hacksaw and sawing off the 2 bad threads...my only question is will the big brass nut be able to start if I do that?

If you have any suggestions please help! I'm in Dire Straits here. Thank you.

I've used those...
At first you go....what the hell is this?
But you would be amaised how often you use it.

Good tool, I'd recommend it for the tool box
(you still need a brass hammer)(or a rubber dead blow)

Well after searching around town I couldn't find this thread file so I opted for a Die and it worked perfectly! It was actually extremely hard getting it started because that's where the damaged threads were but once I squared away how to get it started everything worked pefect.

Thanks for the help! On my way to buttoning up my suspension...can't wait for tomorrow's first ride.
