Are you riding the brakes? Gas and brakes at the same time will put you into limp mode.

 

Dont think so but couldnt swear to it.

Maybe one of the sensors has moisture in it. Just a thought...

 

going down steep hill you have to give it gas with breaks on to keep clutch engaged. i dont think that is the problem.

 

I do not like to brag, and this is nothing to brag about. My first rzr was the rzr 1000. The first time I took it to the Oregon dunes was this last October. After a few days of riding I noticed the engine light coming on and off, then sometimes the gas pedal would appear to not work for a split second, Of course I thought there was something wrong with the machine.
I took it to the dealer and found out there was a "CODE" for using the gas and brake at the same time, not only a couple times but 126 times I had done this. They cleared the code and the engine light is gone. It's a very bad habit I have and I'm trying to not do it anymore.

Hi, I have this problem right now, yesterday it first appeared. What did you do to fix it?

 

Well i'm an ild dirt track racer and you drive with both feet so it is very possible but last night i was completely out of the rzr and it was sitying idleing when it came on so i'll see what it does today

So today in about 30 miles of riding it came on 5-6 times and I most definitly did not touch the brake and gas at the samr time when it came on. Never happened at any of the same conditions. couple of times was running 30-40 MPH on a gravel road, once climbing a hill another time I was completely out of the rzr and was sitting there all alone idling . So guess I'll take it home after we ride some tomorrow and clean it up and start checking all my connections. Otherwise guess I'll have to take it in and see if the dealer can figure it out.

 

I've had the same problem with mine. Check Engine light comes on and no acceleration, let off gas pedal and hit it again and light goes out. I brought it to dealer and it had code stored for gas/brake use at same time. I never ride with foot on brake and gas. The dealer installed a new brake light switch but I haven't had a chance to test the fix yet.

 

Once mine comes on i have to shut it off and restart it to reset

Yeah I have to take it in tuesday to get my glovebox door replaced so I'll have them check it out then.

 

I don't mean to threadjack but who do you use for service around here?

I haven't had any issues that required service so far but thought I would ask before it comes up. I bought it from Mancuso south BTW.

 

I have never had to take an RZR (this is my 3rd rzr) in for service before. But since I buy all my parts from Mancuso South and they are the closest to me that's where I took it. Mike in parts treats me right and had several good conversations with their Manager so hope they get mine figured out quick. I've read alot of post's on the facebook pages where there are quite a few other's who are having / had the same problem. A couple they had to replace the computer to fix it. When they hooked mine up to check for codes there were several issues that came up all electrical related.

 

I put 70 miles on yesterday and the check engine light never came on and no loss of acceleration. The new brake light switch my dealer installed may have fixed it, fingers crossed.

 

Bruce, I wonder if your brake lights are on when you are riding, even though your foot hasn't been on the pedal. Like the late 90's Chevy trucks? Could be throwing the computer a curve.

 

Good question, I don't know ,possibility.

 

I could call that Ranger from the Rally and ask him! Lord knows you were no where near the brake pedal that night! LOL

Bruce, I called that ranger. He said the only reason he didn't give you a ticket is because he was really impressed that you were doing 75 in a 15, and your foot was on the brake!

 

And Bruce came forward and admitted his guilt.

I still swear at first I thought that guys were just messing with me and he was not a ranger.

I've been having a similar issue, but more random then same others have mentioned above. Do for my first service in a few weeks so i'll post codes and what the dealer finds out.

Just got off the phone with dealership . Looks like a bad throttle position sensor at the gas pedal. waiting on parts. Been a week and now looks like another week depending on how long it takes UPS with weather delays. Long as I get it back in time for our christmas.newyears trip I'm good.
