After 6 RZR’s in the last 10 years, 30+ Polaris sleds since 1981...I put a deposit on the new Honda Talon today. It won’t be available until spring so I have a few months to see what Polaris does in the interim.
The clutch dirt and constant maintenance is one factor but the Polaris build quality is a bigger one. The amount of customization for basic’s and the cost is also getting old. The 2019 XP 1000 had such crappy colors that I bought a 2018 last October. My third one in a row with the square pucks in the driven; belt side clearance off 50 thousandths; door openings off so much that I had to grind each opening and then huge gaps all around. The Ride Command had 3 year old maps and 2 year old software and still has issues after getting updates from Samantha. I could Go on but have finally run out of patience. It’s a great, fun machine but I’m ready for a change. I hope the increased competition gets Polaris off their butt like happened with Snowmobiles.

I'm old and don't give a SH*T if I piss anyone off. Why do people come on the Polaris forum and tell all us poor souls who own the piece of crap known as a Polaris RZR that they are buying another brand of machine? I will never understand this. If you own a Polaris and it sucks for you and buy a new machine from another manufacture FANTASTIC. Enjoy your new ride. May you put 1,000,000 miles on it all trouble free.

People like to be “that guy” and stir sh*t up on forums. I figure most of those type of folks live a life of solitude in their moms basement. I like to stir the pot from time to time, but I’m not about to publicly bash a company I have 10’s of thousands of dollars invested in. Every manufacturer has their issues with products, it’s not just polaris. I always got a kick of the “how great the reliability was with Honda” guys. We got that on the can am forums all the time. My response was, it’s easy not to break stuff when you have 30 horse power. Power and speed break parts. (Period). It’s been a long time since Honda was dealing either of those out, so bring on yet another under powered machine and putz around the trails Honda. You won’t have any fun and get smoked by rzr’s and x3’s all day, but hey you won’t break anything and be very reliable.

"bashing" a company is comparable to the fanboyz rubbin' balls with one another.

I think publicly voicing issues and problems with a product is a good thing. Sending an email, or a phone call whereas it's only 1 person sending and probably 1 person receiving said correspondence, isn't gonna gain much traction and probably goes straight to the mfg's paper shredder.

I don't do FB but i know if you say something on FB about a company, it gains millions and billions of earballs. (that would be eyes and ears combined)

I think many people welcome complaints and issues being raised and what to look out for. I know i do. This thread alone has me made aware of some issues that could be problematic that i knew nothing about.

Criticism along with competition should by all accounts, increase the reliability/durability/bang for the buck of these machines....for all mfg's.

Companies/people bash other products in TV commercials and in all kinds of advertising everyday. But who better to criticize a product, than the purchasing customer, instead of a paid actor.

My $.01. I'm not worth $.02 of opinion. :big-grin

I believe there are some people that post up their thoughts because they are looking for constructive feedback. So when someone says they are thinking about jumping ship they are really looking for input as to stay or go.
That being said, UTV's, RV's, Boats, Harleys are all money pits.
Nobody builds what I want anyway. When I buy one I'm simply looking for a starting platform to start off from. I can guarantee you nobody builds anything off the floor that will hold up to the way me or my friends ride.
Polaris quality control isn't the greatest but I like to work on my own stuff anyway. As far as doors not closing you can always not take possession till they fix the stuff that's suppose to be right.
The Polaris Razor has so much aftermarket support you could go broke trying to buy all the upgrades.... I like that if I want to buy something its available.
I bet if you are a guy that would buy an XP 1000 and drive it around stock that the Honda will be great. But if you are going to build it or beat on it you might find there isn't enough development to support that.

I think between Textron and Honda entering the space and CanAm upping the ante with an all new sport line, Polaris is going to have to increase their build quality. There are too many known issues (carrier bearings, turf mode grenades, reverse chain, etc) that are easy fixes that Polaris as a company is going to have to address or they can start watching their market share drop.

More options = increased competition = hopefully better products across the board
Exactly. Innovation forces the other manufacturers to keep up or eat dust. It doesn't matter how long you've been an industry leader, you can't rest on your laurels if other manufacturers start cranking out better machines. Or even equal machines at lower prices.

I'm happy with my RZR, but I have no blind loyalty to Polaris. If Honda, Yamaha or anybody else comes out with a better machine for a better price, I'd jump ship in a heartbeat.

If you don’t think the completion has an effect think about this......
Textron comes out with the XX at about 21,000
Honda comes out with their product at probably around 20,000
What does Polaris do ? The come out with e Velocity that is one bad boy rig and I can get one for less than 24,000. Maybe at Abernathys for like 21,000. Hmmm
Guess what I buy ?
I think the Velocity is Polaris’s answer to keep market share.
