with a mag it might be ok...... was it alot or just covered it.....mine was the same first time and sec time

 

Just covered the magnet. I might change the fluid after the next trip to just double check.

Not alot of fluid and pretty easy to get to.

 

How many miles on it? I would imagine a little bit of fine is ok...at least its not chunks.

 

1512 miles/109 hours. No chunks.

Sounds like this is not unique. Perhaps the Hillard system has a certain amount of normal wear and that's why Popo installed the magnet on that plug.

 

Small particles are normal like on an out board motors foot,it's when you get chunks you need to worry..

 

My drain plug was covered with fine metal too, but it had 1240 miles on it, and had never made any unusual noises so I'm not too worried about it, it's probably normal wear.

 

I had alot of black buildup on my drain plug too. What is that?

 

After checking the service manual I would guess it is wear metal from the armature plate, and the ring & pinion gears.
