Ok, I've never been to Glamis before. I've always go to Dumont or North. Now that I live in San Diego it's time for me to make the trek to sand dunes mecca. A couple of questions for you experts to help a brother out.

1. Is the only camping on the road along the tracks? What other options?
2. What's the difference between the Glamis and Gordons Well?
3. Please give any suggestions, I'll take anything you have to offer
4. Is there a place aht shows camping spots in detail? I've seen the sky view of the camping area, what i'm looking for is better detail..

Thanks in advance
Chop.

Glamis is north of Gordons Wells. Glamis is off Hwy 78, Gordons off of Hwy 8. Most people from San Diego go to Gordons Wells, straight shot out Hwy 8. Its open camping at both places except where marked. You will need a season pass or a weekend pass for either place.

You can run from Glamis to Gordons Wells and vise versa.

There will be members in Glamis from the 22nd to the 31st, alot of them camped in or around Gecko area.

Come meet great people like Crazy Watson and others during this event.

I haven't stayed in Glamis, but I have ridden up there one Halloween weekend. The Glamis area was very chopped-up and rutted due to tons of traffic. There was very little clean sand to be found. Although it was only one weekend for me, the folks I was with say that it was typical.

Conversely, Gordons is also right near the big dunes (as opposed to Ogilby), the Sand Drags, and Comp Hill, the latter visible from I-8. They are smoother with less traffic and just as big (IMHO).

That said, when I take the RZR4 out, I stay in Ogilby because I have the family with me, but when I go out on the YZ450, I stay in Gordons because the big dunes are right there and you don't have to ride through the little dunes near Ogilby to get to them (a real PIA on a dirtbike).

Just pick the RAZR owner with the biggest RV and move in with him!! Thats what I would try....I'm not saying it would work...But hey...

On the real side of things, there are many differant threads on here about Dune rules, where "setups" will be ect..Just spend sometime searching. I have yet to find one "All answers" type thread or manual...

Man I love riding the KTM on BIG dunes. One wheel up and one wheel down. Also flying into a bowl with 40' of air is one of my fav things to do at the dunes. Thanks.

Along the tracks are called the washes. dusty, but good for kids
By the vendors is called vendors alley. dusty, but close to the vendors.
Gecko Rd You have cement flats,Gecko Loop, Road Runner and the different pads
to camp on. Not so dusty and you can make your camp kid friendly.

My husband has been going to Glamis since the 1970's and now our kids and our grandchildren all go.

Gordons is too close to the freeway
