Lock and Ride Trunk Wont release!

Hey anyone else have the lock and ride trunk? For some reason mine will not pull out of the holes in the bed after I release the latches/rubber plug things. Its like the portion of the rubber that protrudes out the bottom of the bed becomes de-formed when clamped. Then when you release it, it stays de-formed and will no longer fit up through the holes. Any thoughts?

Keep in mind, the clamps deform the rubber donuts so they swell, wedge, and lock the box in the bed.

I always have to use a flat prybar to get them out.

You can spray them with silicone in an effort to make them a little easier to get out.

But usually they're just a PITA.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll try letting it warm up and then hit it with the soapy water. I did tighten the nuts on the bottom of those plugs when I first got it. Basically so I can just barely push the levers down, thinking I would get the best and tightest hold down. Maybe I went too far. Kinda ruins the "lock and ride" benefit if I can't take the darn thing off!

Yup, you may have them a bit tight!

But when they dry out, it can still be a PITA to get them out.

Thinking about it, perhaps a thin layer of grease on the rubbers before you shove them down into the bed. It won't dry out, and should stay "greasy". Perhaps easier to get out.

Just a thought.

Whew, I guess back them off a bit.

Try this, take a lock n ride clamp out of the LNR box. With the nut loose, insert the clamp in the bed and fold it over...can you pull it out?

If yes, tighten the nut one turn and try again...you'll figure out at what point the clamp won't pull out.

And, no bouncing around on the trail won't allow them to come out,

Should make it a whole lot easier to take your LNR box out of the bed!!

Just a thought,

And that is a good thought

They don't need to be clamped too tight

I put my box in one time and forgot to clamp it, we hit a desert trail at about 50 mph and it was pretty rough.

I could tell when we stopped that it bounced up and down a little bit, but i think i would have to roll for it to come out.
