I would like to get rid of the clank on mine as well.

Any issues using longer shock bolts? Is it better to weld tabs to the frame and a-arms instead?

I have had the bolts for 400 plus miles no problem. But the tabs to the frames and A-arms would be way better. I started this thread and am blown away by the response and lack of info prior to this post. I did use the search and no good info. I guess I am not the only one who has this problem or noise. Let us know how it works and post up some pics. Thanks

It’s been awhile, any issues with bending bolts?

I’m getting ready to order straps and put together my own kit. I jacked up the front and fully extended the shocks are 25” c to c. Both PRP & SXS Perf kits use 23” straps. Will the quad straps really stretch 2”?

A 24” strap seems like it would be perfect.

Edited: Ordered the 24” 6 ply straps from Trail Gear.

It looks as though you paid 31 bucks for just the straps. With SXS Prefab kits include the bolt and spacer needed to attach the strap to the RZR. I have had mine on for over 800 miles and no problems and the thud noise I had is now gone. So far so good. The allen head bolt and nut SXS sent has rusted. Maybe I should have painted. Or maybe I should replace with a plated bolt and nut.

EDIT: Wow I did not remember paying so much for my kit with the bolts and spacers. For some reason I thought I paid 50-60 bucks for everything. I went and looked and I actually bought a T-shirt and a tire air pressure gauge so that I could ge free shipping. I see now that complete kits are way overpriced for what you get. When I did this a year ago there was very little info on the strap length. Alot of contradictions and not very accurate info. I think you will be just fine with 23 or 24 inch straps. I am sure one could go to a hardware store or Fastenal and make a kit.

The one thing I have learned about my RZR is one modification leads to another. Seems I can always make something work better or smother ect.

Good luck on your project. Take a few pics and let us see how it turns out.

I actually found a new set locally that I picked up yesterday for $56. I will turn the spacers on my lathe.

You’re hardware is black and rusting because they probably sent grade 12.9 bolts and that’s how they come. To get plated hardware you’d have to go down to 10.9.

So we saw some confusion here in the thread, so wanted to give some info.

We have a pre-made Limit Strap Kit for stock length shocks that fits the S900, XP 1000's, XP Turbo's, and RS1. 23" Limit straps in the front, 33" in the rear.

If you have an aftermarket suspension, or aren't sure of the length you need, it's pretty easy to figure out. Jack up your vehicle, then measure the length of the fully extended shock from bolt to bolt. Take off 1" for every foot of strap (to stop the shock from fully extending and adjust for stretching). That's the size you need.

We have individual Limit Straps available anywhere from 6" - 38"

Good to know. I will just let them be. TY

Got my kit put together. 24” 6 layer straps, 10mm x 100mm grade 12.9 bolts and turned some spacers. Looking forward to riding this weekend and not listening to my shocks sound like they’re going to come apart.
Looks good. I am sure you will enjoy the new straps. My shocks making a loud thud at full extension is why I started this discussion. It is amazing how much better the ride is with out all that annoying shock noise.

Shock Therapy announced today that they are going to be selling limit strap kits for all brands of utvs soon. The kit for the X3 RS is out now and they said new offerings should be out weekly. Like most Shock Therapy products it isn’t cheap, but damn if it doesn’t look gorgeous. They’ve definitely kept up the quality they’re known for. I know there are cheaper options, but the design of the upper mounts and the adjustability look like it’ll be worth it. Hopefully the Polaris ones drop soon. http://shocktherapyst.com/can-am-x3-rs-front-limit-strap-kit/

Here is the video from Shock Therapy. When I started this thread I did not know alot about limit straps. Also there were a few people on this thread arguing with me about why I did not need them and that they would serve no purpose. Any how here is the video from ST. He explains why people use them and what the advantages of having them.

Lol, shock therapy has gone on record multiple times saying on these vehicles in stock form they’re not needed. Of course they will sell them cause why not? Another revenue stream. That still doesn’t mean they’re needed. The only single advantage is eliminating noise, that some people can’t stand. The disadvantage is far bigger you are losing wheel travel rather that be 1/4” or more.

If I were going to run them though, I’d do shock therapy’s as it looks pretty sweet, bet that also means more expensive than the others.

I saw their new strap kit too, good to see they are using the adjusters like full size trucks/buggys .... but not a fan of the upper mount, limit straps should ALL WAYS go from the frame to the A-arm and should be completely independent from the coilover's mounting double shear tabs.... wouldn't the constant yanking on one side of the coilover body right where it mates up with the piggy back reservoir mess them up over time? I'm sure they did their R&D but frame mounted is the only way I would mount limit straps, its simple and inexpensive to have some limit strap tabs welded to your RZR with the adjusters

Shock Therapy told me also that I did not need straps. But if I wanted to get rid of the thud or that loud bang when the shocks go to full extension then I should get some limit straps. Which is why I started this thread. Personally I would never own a set of modified shocks without limit straps. I also like the ST straps better than mine but mine work fine so I will just keep running them.

I will say that some people use the word need as if it were air that we breath in. I mean we don't need RZR's. But if you don't like the annoying thud or bang that the modified shocks with heavier tires makes at full extension then you might need some limit straps.
