Lifting With Shock Adjustment

Are there any ill effects of raising the razor up by simply cranking down on the shock adjustment? I rode this weekend with a fellow who had his shocks cranked down about as far as they go. My shocks are sitting at just about the lowest setting. The angle of his axle shafts is really steep while mine are fairly flat. I'd like to get my rig up a little higher and this is an easy adjustment but it sure seems like there'd be some potential issues. Comments?

I have to disagree with this statement. I ran my WER shocks on a low preload for a long time thinking less preload will keep the ride on the softer side. In reality not enough preload will allow the shocks to bottom out prematurely as well as giving up ride height . Finding the right preload for your machine ,depending on riding style and terrain type , takes a little expirementation. After I was convinced by a buddy to crank down on my springs my machine rode alot better . The ride seemd smoother and less harsh. Cranking down too much though did make it rougher and not as comfortable. need to play around and try to find the mid-ground setting sort of a compromise of ride comfort and ride height. I have since switched springs to the Makin Trax and had to do a little adjusting also with those. About to add a 2" lift kit and back off on the preload to see what the ride will be. So just cranking down some on the spring will not make your machine ride worse.

Well right now my springs are set about as low as they'll go and it looks like I've got a ton of adjustment I could make so I think if I adjust about half way I could get some lift without compromising ride quality too much.

The biggest concern I had was the steep angle of the axle shafts. Considering my buddy says he hasn't had any trouble with his and his are cranked down all the way, I'm guessing I should be ok at half way.
