I just bought a 2020 ultimate after riding an XP 1000. I remember reading the clutch threads and am having the dealer do that recall and a seatbelt recall. What else should I check on a 2020 with 250 miles on it? Thanks for the help.

Tender springs. Check the ride height. If geound clearance and ride quality are important, than consider a set of dual rate springs. However, even when mine was down to 10.5” it still rode better than anything else I had ever driven. But the Shock Therapy springs made it even better!

The bigproblem that they are most known for is being fun.

Take it out for a rip, and see for yourself. You will have so much fun with it that your thoughts will always be how much fun that ride was, and looking forward to the next ride. You will hate being at work (even more) because you will just spend your days wishing you were out riding.

Clutch was an issue, don't know if its been resolved by Polaris. I know they did a recall so you may check to see if that has been done to it.

You can get an aftermarket clutch that will solve the problem.

I think if it’s a late 2020 some of these problems shouldn’t be an issue. Mine is a 2020 but I purchased it new in June of 2021 . Definitely no intake collapse on mine. So far the tender springs are holding up fine. But mine is the plain sport model with WE shocks. A Clutch kit I think is still much needed. I burnt up a belt within 400 miles. Properly installed and broke in a new evo belt and no problems since. But I still plan on a clutch kit this spring.

As posted in the 4wd thread, I picked up the machine today. In addition to fixing the 4wd, they replaced the clutch under the recall at no charge and the seat belts passed inspection. One good sign is that it goes into gear cleanly without any gear clash. I'll be verifying that the belt is running centered when I get back from my work trip. Cheers.

Another followup. My intake was collapsing at full throttle on dune climbs. Looked at aftermarket but chose the OEM tube for a 2021 because it was almost half the price of the aftermarket tubes. It's a solid poly tube with rubber couplers on each end. Went back to the dunes and power loss problem was gone. On the same trip my springs further collapsed so Shock Therapy springs are on the way. Also got some Schrader valves to install in the Fox shocks while I'm there.

I have a 2020 with 1,800 miles on it - running Method beadlock 15 x7 wheels and Tensor DS 15x10x32 tires. Ran it with OEM clutch with no issues and no additional clutch work - for desert. At dunes run Method 15 x 7 and 15 x 10 bead grips with 10x15x30 fronts and 13 x 15 x 30 paddles (16 paddles) - also no clutch issues in sand - about half miles are at Dunes (Gordon's Well and Glamis) and half in desert or at Sand Hollow.

The Tensor DS is super light tire - 34.5 lbs. about the same as stock 30's - my method bead locks are 9 lbs. per wheel heavier than stock wheels. If you have 32's that are "DOT" approved tires - they probably weigh 44-46 lbs each - add 9 lbs of bead lock wheel and you are 20 lbs.+/- per corner heavier than stock - at some point a clutch kit may be warranted - but most run as is.

Enjoy the new ride! Love my machine.
