Well, finally got a chance to get my hands on a local Jagged X here and off to the dyno we went!... I think Polaris has it slightly underrated in my opinion. 75hp peak at the wheels!!! I was impressed. This dyno data is compared to my stock pull in my 11' XP 2 seater. When we were done, we tried one of my air box lids on it and it picked up another 3 to almost 5hp at the wheels on the top end. It made power under the curve the whole way! I was suprised. The Jagged will be retaining the stock box setup for the remainder of its warranty but we just wanted to see what it would do. By the way, A/F's on it stock were right around 12.9:1 to 13.1:1 stock across the board. The air lid took it to 13.4:1 at the bottom out to 13.2:1 in the upper rpm range. Thats at this altitude here which is about 5800ft.

Seems the X makes peak at 8k rpm but the curve is similar to the non-H.O XP's. Here is the dyno data. "StockX" is the stock pull, "StockX_AirLid" is the pull with my air box lid and "StockXP" is my own stock XP pull. Although my stock XP vs the X were at slightly different rpm's, you get the idea on where its going. Enjoy the data. Enjoy the back end of the Jagged X also if your running a stock XP4...

Impressive!
What does your xp with stage3 cams show?

The thing is popo is claming 6hp more at the crank. Figure in the driveline loss, that 6 is probably only like 4ish at the wheels. We're seeing 8 more at the wheels which is why i'm thinking maybe its making a bit more then 6 more at the crank. Either way, its a nice gain with the HO kit, but it still won't hang with Nate's stage II's. His cams hit the peak power and that power carries flat across the board where polaris cams start dipping down once they hit their peak. It the upper end, the stage II's will be all over the HO kit. My stage 3 setup is running about 81 to 82hp but i'm running the stock exhaust. When i tested FJK's yoshi RS4 on my setup, it made another 5 up to 86ish. But, it carries that power just like the stage II's across the board to 9k rpm where all the polaris stuff will be way down from that. Food for thought....

Agreed. It will still outperform the HO kit for a little less money. I think Nate's SBD kit will also outperform it with no slip on for even less money. Alba makes great stuff and i think its a great option if your not already in a Jagged X and having the HO vs Alba stage II's debate in your head. Plus you get Nate's customer service with your purchase and thats worth money by itself!

Ho yes , thanks guys , i'm really happy to see those result , i'm just waiting mine ...
For my info , is it still a good think to put a ump air filter on a jagged x , i ride long way per day 300 miles on sand road ...

i used one on my rzr 4 mcx turbo , but don't have any exp with xp 900 engine and body.

So I have the HO kit on a 2013 WE XP4. Really impressed with the sound and performance. Compared side by side with my buddie's JX and we both liked the sound of the XP4 with HO over JX, not sure why the XP4 sounded so much better. We have yet to race, but will remedy that next weekend ( we have to got to Vegas this weekend for the PAC12 tourney).

Cheers!

The more I look at the HO engine, the more impressed I am. It took me a couple of looks to really get beyond the peak numbers that show a just under 8 HP gain.

Ive been looking at the graph a little more, and it has got me thinking about the advertising part of the industry, both on the manufacturing side as well as the aftermarket. It makes me think of some of those "shoot out" style tests I have seen where a "test" is done in an attempt to prove who has the best product. They seldom tell you the whole story, it's usually just showing exactly the part that they need you to see to "prove" a point.

(I am not saying that this graph was done to be deceptive in any way, but it did get me thinking about how a graph could be used to do that)

From purely raw numbers, that graph shows 54 HP vs 67 HP on the top end of the graph. If Polaris wanted to put a "spin" on their numbers, they could claim something like, "The HO puts out 20% more horsepower than the original 900 engine." It would even be true, they just wouldn't talk about at what point on the graph that claim is based on. I suppose any aftermarket company wanting to sell parts could do the same thing.

(To be clear) From the conversations I have had with Alba Nate, I do not see him as the kind of person who would ever do something like that, he seems to be totally on the level.

However, this graph makes me even more interested in seeing a direct comparison that has a completely stock non HO XP, vs an XP with the HO engine, vs the Alba silent but deadly kit, vs an Alba stage 2, all on the same Dyno, same tires, same air pressure, and even done on the same day. Anything possible to minimize variables.

I realize that would be allot of work, but it sure would go along way to ending the debate as to what package makes how much power. (and where on the curve it is made)

It sure is easy for guys like me to make requests like this from a keyboard, while sitting on my ass right? :rofl3:
