IS it new or a demo unit?

So I am working up a deal with the local dealership for a 1000 XP and the unit has 30 hours and 24 miles on it. I think that is kind of high for a "New" RZR

What do you guys think? Is that normal? They said its from moving it around and in and out of the lot everyday and so forth. I figured it would have a few but 30h / 24 miles seems like a lot.

Am I crazy or what?

How many did your have on it new?

Thanks in advance

Mine had 1 hour on it. There is no way that 30 hours is normal. I would not have been happy at all. Did you look at that specific unit before you bought it and just not notice the hours? That would be understandable. If that was the the case though, it seems like that may be on you. If you ordered it and it came in that way, I'd have walked away and told them to call me when a really new one came in.

Either way 30 hours is a lot of hours. To me RZRs well into their usable life by the time they hit 100 hours and 1000 miles. You're 1/3 of the way there on hours.

On top of that, it basically sat around idling for 30 hours without being ridden. Polaris did NOT intend that to happen.

I have not purchased it at this point.

They said it is, if you will, their "Display" unit so they have moved it in and out a bunch. It is a 2016 so I guess they have had it for a while.

I guess I was just thinking with that amount of Hrs/miles would it still be considered new. Also should I be concerned with those hrs / miles.

It is a pretty good deal with some goodies already on it. Just not sure if I like the hrs / miles

Thanks

Even turning on and moving in and out at the dealership should not equally 30 miles! I would be concern that this unit was returned or had issues where they had to run it at super low speeds to fix or discover the issue. If this was a car at a new car dealership I would not worry, but it's just a bit odd. But it could have a good reason and depending on how good of a deal you are getting would have to be a consideration.

I can understand the 24 miles but 30 hours?? So either that's a lot of idle time or an average moving ground speed of less than 1mph...

Are you sure the 30 hours isn't the programed service interval? I would double check the gauge...

i remember when i bought a brand new 2011 800 s le
i ordered it when it showed up from another dealership
it already had 50 miles on it i did not check the hrs
i was told it was just from pulling it around from the back daily i was not happy either at the time
the dealer did change the oil and filter for free
i did put a extended warranty on the machine though i was worried
and while i owned the rzr never did have any problems
i sold it at 1500 plus miles

Makes me wonder........

I mean they are still offering factory warranty and all that

And I'm thinking about getting an extended warranty as well.........hmm mm

Again thanks for all the good points of view

Got mine with 0.0. It was setting in the back of the dealership waiting for assembly. Wouldn't want to do it any other way.

I test drove one at a different dealer and didnt want it after the way the salesman treated a brand new unit. I guess he was trying to get me excited to make a sale but full throttle right out the showroom door on a engine with 0 hours that hasn't even warmed up yet seemed a little excessive to me.

This is exactly the worry I have. What's the worst thing that can happen tho if it's under warranty?

I would prefer to get a new one with 1 or 2 hours max but just trying to weigh out the deal. There's really not too many 2016s left around here. Unless I'm willing to drive 6 hours out of state. Then there are a bunch

What dealer are you talking to ?
I'm dealing with Los lunas Motorsports

They did verify the 30 hrs but also said they would do the first required service for free

I'm also wondering if the ignition was left on (not motor) causing the clock to run. It's a concern but if the deal is good enough for you, I might go for it. Just be aware that if you go to resell down the road, the high hours may be an issue. I would at least go back in and say' "I'll give you xx,xxxx for it considering the discrepancy in hours and miles." If they say no, walk out. Tell them you're going shopping out of state. Wait a day or so and see if they call. The worst they can do is call your bluff.

Sounds like a demo unit they've had since last fall. Driving it from back of lot, out front, then back for 6 days a week over half a year. May have even been on display at local mall/shopping center. I'd try to negotiate the price lower, maybe first couple of services for free, and discounted extended warranty.

Past the first service interval...lol

30 hours is beyond what the manufactures says is the break-in period. That is a used machine that you are hoping someone else broke in properly. If the deal they are giving you is a good price for a "USED" machine than you may choose to get it, but I would see what used machines with similar hours go for.
