Introducing UPSXS!

Some friends and I have started a non profit organization called Upper Peninsula Side by Sides (UPSXS). You guessed it, we're in Michigan's Upper Peninsula!

Our goal is to build a community of local riders AND raise awareness of what the UP has to offer to people outside of the immediate area. Additionally we are working to win DNR grants and private donations to improve/expand/re open trails all over the UP.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to expand! Please consider joining the group on Facebook, following on Instagram and Subscribing on Youtube. We want to build this community thru social media which means there's NO MEMBERSHIP FEES or anything like that. We just need active participation on everyone's part to get as many people involved as possible. If you're already in the area and posting start using the hashtag #UPSXS to help us cast a wider net.

We are planning a number of rides throughout the riding season and as soon as the specifics are available you'll find that information on our Facebook, Instagram and Youtube pages. There's not much content to speak of at this point but that's going to change. We are planing weekly ride nights, trail guides, live streams, interviews all that stuff but to promote the area NOT OURSELVES. Everything goes back into the trails.

Let me know if you have any questions or have any suggestions!

Thank you!

Absolutely! I have never actually been to Drummond with the SXS. I would defiantly like to, looks pretty cool. Honestly though I think you might be pleasantly surprised in and around Marquette County! Based on the videos I've seen of Drummond there is a lot of similarity between the two. I will say there's way more restaurants and breweries and hotels in Marquette. I'm hoping to highlight that all summer long! Have fun either way!

i love riding in the up greenland to tavolia area, except someone rode on trail 109 last summer and created a land owner problem so they closed snowmobile trail 109 my favorit loop on sleds
they need more sxs awareness , were and were not to go education so we dont close more than you open
i would imagine that they cut ruts on private property sled trail 109
dh trail runs with 109 so it may have been easy to not know
maybe a map with red zones ,green zones , and yellow for ok to off trail through woods and up hills that arent trails
That is an awesome area! We are planning a Keweenaw Take Over for the fall colors this fall and I think that area has to be part of the tour too! Did you know you can get an escort underneath the Portage Bridge in Houghton/Hancock?

Unfortunately I think that happens a lot. I was just talking to a neighbor this evening and something similar happened this summer with a bicycle trail in Marquette. The race organizers failed to tell a land owner that the race was virtual and racers had a month to enter their times. All along the land owner thought he had a greed to a single day event...

I think this is a great idea! I'm from south east Michigan and I would love some info on UP ridding we have been up to Drummond Island and its amazing up there but with Michigan I worry about the trails that we ride with different width restrictions. I would love to explore more of the upper peninsula.
