Intermittent Power Issue

I recently purchased a 2013 Polaris 800 and took it out on its first ride this last weekend. I had no issues with the machine during the ride (other than the hood flying off and hitting the roof, which then flew off, ripping my light bar and both light pods attached to the roof off) Once I had got home I got the SxS washed off, making sure I didn’t get any of the electrical behind the seat directly, I may have indirectly got something wet but not sure what. Now none of the accessory aftermarket pieces work. The machine still starts and the headlight and gauge cluster still lights up but all my switches, speakers, overhead lights, and winch do not get power. Before I switch the machine to the accessory position, I can see they are getting very little power but as soon as I turn the machine on, none of the systems are getting power. I’ve attached some pictures try to help. Any advice is appreciated!!

Thanks,
Mike.

What he said... Look for places that may have stretched out, or rubbed thru the harness..

Hopefully your lights are on a fuse.. That switch doesn't look like it's very high quality either, might think about replacing it with a good quality one that's reasonably water resistant..

Well I’ve been trying to find this short to ground. I’m not very electronically inclined but, I’ve gone through all the wires and nothing seems to be rubbing through or contacting anything. It all worked before I washed it when I came home and now it is weak. I’ve included some more pictures of the wiring set up. Hopefully I could get some advice on points to test?

Thanks
Mike

Ok, well those photos give us a little more to look at.. For starters, what I'm assuming is a grounding block to the left and above the aftermarket fuse block, the bolt nearest the seatbelt tab doesn't look like a good ground to me, it appears that the ring crimp on connector is sitting on top of paint ??

Also, your lights appear to be on 2 relays, have you tried changing them out with a known good one ? Their ground tabs appear to be sitting on paint as well.

That brings me to the non waterproof aftermarket fuse panel, which appears to have gotten wet and muddy at least once, the legs of the fuses can corrode as well as the receptacle..

I'd suggest changing that out for one that at minimum has a cover, but preferably one that's water resistant..

A better place to mount it is also an option, inside the passenger compartment up on the firewall would be preferable to where yours is mounted..

So many possibilities for a problem to exist, but these should get ya started.. If I were a betting man, I'd say it's in that fuse / relay cluster behind your seat..

Have you done any electrical testing or just visual inspection? Do you have a multimeter? Really what you need to do is start at the battery and work your way through the circuit to each device taking voltage readings and see where/when it drops off.

Have you pulled any of those fuses to inspect? I've seen more than once a partially blown fuse behave like what you're seeing. Typically happens when things get wet. Not enough current is drawn as a dead short, but it's enough to weaken the fuse and create a large voltage drop due to high resistance.

That fact that you have multiple items with the same symptoms, means it's likely something common to all of the items. Points about the grounds and paint are accurate, as well as the exposed fuses. All of that should be enclosed.

UPDATE

As it turns out, I was having a grounding issue. The large grounding cable had came completely disconnected from the terminal under the insulation. After reattaching it, all of my aftermarket electronics worked properly.

As for the fuse box, I will be following the recommended replacement of my fuse box to a waterproof one. Dirt and mud was packed into the sockets for the fuses.

Thank you everyone for help!
Mike.
