So after putting a couple of hundred miles on this week I realized how loud these machines are and I am tire of yelling at my wife for simple communications.

I have been considering helmet pumper systems, which means helmet comms. This is about as straight forward as it gets. We mostly trail ride and my primary use for the helmet is not safety, but would be for dust control. Probably the biggest downside would be heat in the summer months.

The other option is headsets. This option seems more expensive then helmet mounted and I am not sure why, but that is besides the point of my overall question. I like the idea of headsets as they are easy on/off, fit just about anyone and are cooler (temperature) then helmets. If we did this, when we ride in really dusty conditions it would include adding a respirator and riding goggles.

If money was no object, what would you perfect, 2-person, comm system look like?

Probably what I have now. Helmet with adjustable pumper control. Push to talk on steering wheel and passenger has one also to communicate with the other drivers. Rp660 or the 696 Bluetooth intercom. With rm60 watt radio. That said if you choose headsets I have behind the head with volume and ptt.a pair basically brand new. 175$

I was looking into a comm system from Rugged or PCI, but I don't know anyone else with a system like that, yet most of my friends ride bikes with me, and we all have Cardo comms in our helmets for the street. So I bought more Cardo Packtalk Bold units for the RZR. My wife and daughter are very happy now that we don't need to yell at each other to talk. Also, my daughter loves being able to hear her music while we rip around.

@Nwcid if all you want is to be able to communicate with your passengers and you dont want a radio to talk with other cars , then there are several Bluetooth options that dont require buying a intercom
Google Bluetooth headset RZR forums ...lots of links

My setup is Rugged Radio RPR 242, a basic intercom, headset, and cables. Dust mask and goggles from Wolfsnout. We started with the basic headset, and upgraded the ear pads to the gel with cloth covers. Much more comfortable. Plugs into 12v port, and held in place with Velcro. You can also add cables to tag in your phone for music or phone calls. A different cable and an added 5w handheld two-way radio for communications between vehicles if you ride with others. Inexpensive and functional in regards to the headset system and dust mask / goggle setup. You can often find the intercom and headsets in the clearance section of Rugged Radios website. Easily removed to protect from rain and washing. Also get a headset hanger so you have somewhere to put the headsets, otherwise, you’ll be fumbling around with them getting in and out of the vehicle.
