Am Family, My old policy switched over from a 2000 Harley.
$190ish a Year Full coverage with a $5000 rider and extra un/under insured coverage AND MED PAY!! The med pay is crutial. It covers the "whatever" that your medical coverage or the other guys coverage does not!

I.E.,, Copay, Meds, Heli, Ambulance..... Well worth the $12 extra.

I just got full coverage, collision, fire, theft, medical etc. because I registered it for street use in AZ. I use State Farm and it was under $200.00 for the entire year. That covers it for road use and if anything happens offroading too.

While rates and coverages can vary by carrier the much bigger rating factor is the applicant, various required info together with industry reporting services combine to create an "insurance score" which in the end calculations is the largest influence on premium tier, this score is affected by;

1. Credit Score
2. Loss History
3. History of Continuous Coverage
4. Age
5. other info

From there other discounts or lack of can further impact your premium, but my point is that it is pointless to compare your quoted premiums with others here, no one risk may be identical with all the factors in play, check with carriers/agents that are savy in atv/utv risks and available coverages and make your decision.

One tip from an insurance guy, if your quoter does not take time to discuss things such as "guest rider liability" "uninsured and underinsured motorists" and "medical payments" and suggest you buy up in these categories, get yourself another agent..

Other than that boyz, carry on at the water cooler talk and the policy measuring contests..

Is anyone out there an insurance specialist? I'm an old motorcycle & ATV off roader but just got a new RZR. Since the early 80s I've been riding the dunes, deserts, & mountain trails of the western US & I've never had any of my ORVs insured. Frankly I've never had any reason or incident that has made me think it would have been a good idea.
Now this new RZR XP 4 is by far the most expensive ORV I've owned & now I do think insurance would be a good idea for this machine. My question's are regarding the types of coverage. Is full coverage like I have on my auto policy even applicable off road? Is there anyway to legaly determine fault in an off road accident? It seems to me that because my family has health insurance that I should only be interested in insurance for theft of, or damage to my RZR.
If I crash my RZR it is most likely to be a solo vehicle crash. What I hit or damage is most likely just going to be the desert. If it were another vehicle that collided with mine while off road wouldn't it just be, I handle mine, they handle theirs?
If anyone works in or has any depth of expierience in the insurance industry and would'nt mind taking a few minutes to answer some of these questions I would be very appreciative. Also regarding my questions, if all I need to do is provide coverage to my RZR what coverages do I request?
Uninsured/Underinsured?
Collision?
Comprehensive?
Optional Equipment?
Thanks in advance for any information or opinions regarding this matter.
