I broke my front left front tie rod while I was out riding in some real rutted out trails. When the tie rod let go the tire went hard left and caused me to hit a rock and rolled the RZR. I broke alot of plastics including the bed.

I did an insurance claim with State Farm and they paid for it with the exception of my deductable. Great!! Then 2 days later I got a letter saying they are dropping my RZR insurance because i was too much of a risk as decided by a third party risk management group. WHAT?!?! I have been with State Farm since getting the RZR in 08' never missed a payment but I have one issue and they drop me.

anybody else experience something like this?

Welcome to the world of insurance. That's why many of us don't try a claim except in high cost accidents like yours. The hard part may be finding new coverage now that you've been dropped. You did nothing wrong, insurance is a rip off except for major accidents. You might try Geico, they seem to cater to motor-sports, though I've never tried a claim against them.
BTW it's happening a lot with home owner coverage too, one claim and they drop you or raise your rates through the roof.

Thats the old "Oh...you wanted to use it" story. Insurance companies are in the business of taking your money, not giving it. So as long as you pay and never use it they are happy.
Can't live without it though. In case you hit a new car or a person.

How long have you been with State Farm?? It does happen to some people who haven't carried a policy for a decent amount of time and/or have has numerous claims in the past.. I can't see them dropping it for just one accident...unless you have had previous claims or you just got it and are making a claim immediately? I know State Farm has one heck of a investigative team... They have always treated me very well.. But I also insure everything from my home, to Autos, Trailers, off road Vehicles ect... I did get dropped from the life insurance but that's because I was up for renewal (it was an old policy from when I was in my early 20s) and couldn't pass the physical.... I even added my wife's new Horse Trailer and she got into this huge accident in Canada (that's the reason we are staying in AK one more winter) , the trailer got wrecked 5 days after adding it to the policy! Now instead of having State Farm pay 4+ thousand dollars to "tow" it either to the lower 48 or back to Alaska, I flew out to Whitehorse and met her, paid for temporary repairs and we limped it back to AK.. It's still in the shop! She hit a 2 foot gash in the road that was 18" deep and it ripped off both axels..I'm talking clean off!! Horses were injured...It was BAD! But State Farm... They were great!

I wish you luck, I know some banks require you carry insurance if you finance them? I can't imagine facing what you're going through... I really would feel betrayed if they did something like that to me.. But they know I'm easy money..I never really leave my home.. I'm averaging less than 1600 miles a year on the odometer..

ouch just notice your up here in Alaska too??? I wonder if its beause of people stealing these things??? Either way..they are giving me no issues...

Allstate tried to drop us on our vehicles once not too long ago. Why? Their computer showed 2 claims on our record and that's where they decide to drop you. We explained that the claims were 14 years apart and the most recent one was over 5 years ago. Apparently their computer model didn't show that part. they recanted and we switched to Progressive the next year.

I would check other insurance provider rates. Most likely, you can find a better rate for whatever you need insurance for and drop your current company. I wouldn't out up with that bullshit if i were you. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

I have been with State Farm for 5-6 years and have all my insurance through them. I have no complaints with them. With one exception of course.

I don't know of any problems with RZR getting stolen here in Kodiak (island). So I don't really get it.

the biggest issue I have I guess is that they did not even contact me. They took a third partys word and dropped me.

Wow.....that sucks, Guess I should have looked where in AK.. That makes it even more puzzling.. How and why they didnt contact you is beyond me...when you mean third party were you refering to your local agent? or was it some other party (I don want names Im just going to be asking mine why this stuff happens to people & if there is an issue with RZR in particular..) I know that I pay $8 a month for full coverage on the RZR..and its going up to $12 a month when I add the turbo and increase the coverage to 24K... but again..they know how much It just sits... they learned quick when they asked how many miles I had on my 2003 ATVs when I sold them for my RZR and I told them about 130 miles each :)

Try Progressive... My buddy slammed a rock on his Kodiak and bent the frame. They totalled the bike and they actually gave him slightly more than he paid for it and let him keep the bike. He made some minor adjustments to the linkages and cables and plastics and then used the bike for two years after that. They never raised his rates or gave him a problem.

I have my fingers crossed as I just had to put a claim in for my wifes car and my boat about a week apart from each other (same carrier) waiting for them to drop or raise my rates as well.

Yep...They suck for sure. Not surprised. Home owners is the SAME way. Do not make claims for broken sliding glass doors and such. Do not even call them about a claim unless it's big bucks....20K or more IMO. I've been told by an insurance person that just a simple "inquiry" (phone call) about a possible claim goes in their little shared database. I was told by our agent (State Farm) that "home owner's insurance in the post 911 environment" is for "catastrophic loss only". It's a lousy business. And they wonder why there's so much fraud when people feel they're getting ripped by these people. As stated earlier.....You are expected to simply pay and shut up.

Sorry to hear you got dropped. Don't think it's going to be cheap to get re-insured, but maybe you'll get lucky. Keep us posted.

Boy...That's a recipe for a drop for sure. Wish you luck Kyle.

Was there a major storm, or a tree fall on the pair? I guess it doesn't matter now, since the claim has been submitted.....

I wish it was as simple as a big storm. Wifes car was keyed (more like giant screwdriver) on all four sides, all tires slashed, and hit a few time with like a sledge hammer while she was in a grocery store. Not even in our neighborhood, she was at one of her stores and just went to get lunch and some stuff that could stay in the car as she was at work and came out and there it was, matter of 15 minutes.

Boat I was not around as I have it slipped at the marina and on a lift and it looks like someone smashed into the side. There was tons of gouges in the aft starboard side of the boat all the way through the gelcoat, some good scratches on the other side from being slammed into the dock, missing emblem, messed up decal($800 for a sticker) and damage to the lift. At least nothing to the outdrive or anything like that. Still very costly repair

Jesus Kyle.....The car damage is nasty. What kind of car is it? Don't tell me it's a Hummer. Pyscho Earth-First types sometimes will do that to gas-hogs. Sucks about the boat too. Somebody that didn't know how to pilot his boat smashed into yours, or they were drunk. No note of course. Bummer series of events. Both worthy of a claim. Good luck.

American family dropped my home owners insurace because I had a rotweiler. The stupid thing was the dog preexisted their policy change, was told it was the dog or the insurance policy. They can KMA:spank1:
This is just crazy.. Ive never heard of so many ridiculous reasons for people who are good and honest making payments getting dropped....you didnt even make a claim? :rm_thumbdown:

Starting to think that some of these creaps really are stock piling and sharing information on people....The internet has all kinds of information on people on it, it always amazes me what you can find out about people......

I guess it doesnt matter that I live in a glass house after all..thats why I dont throw stones!
