I'd personally stay away from inner tubes, you can't put a patch in them on the trail if needed.

Are you saying to use a patch or that you can't patch if you have a tube. We had a 900 slash a hole in the side wall last time and could not get a patch or slim to stop it from leaking. This is why I think a tube would work instead.

What's the issue with tubes? Seems like a great idea if you get a flat that can't be fixed with a patch

 

Take it to a tire shop that does vulcanizing. Also patch plugs work pretty good. A tube would work good until you get a hole in it on the trail. Can't hardly break down a tired to patch a tub there. I've seen a lot of sidewall holes but none that be couldn't eventually plug enough to get back to camp.

Patching a tire isn't an issue on the trail from the inside. It's when the patch won't work that I want tubes for back up.

 

I have had a tube in my rear tire for over 500 miles with no problem.
It was in there wher i got my 900. someone pinched the sidewall ,inserted two plugs and a tube. still in there today with no problems (yet.)

 

Thanks for the info!!!! Just ordered a couple. And a tube is much easer to patch than a side wall on a tire
