Have you had problems with your Viper or Warn Winch?

What?!? That is completely unacceptable. We have very high standards for customer service around here. They are talented and professional. But we obviously missed something here.

Shoot me a PM tonight and I'll make sure this gets resolved tomorrow.

My Viper Max pulled me up a pretty wicked mountain side for 5 hours straight, did the job !!
The other two lines you see were points of tie off, the Viper pulled, and pulled, and pulled....
Well, it was my Viper winch and a bunch of really good friends....thanks again guys !!

I sold a Viper Winch to one of the guys that helped with this recovery. He was so impressed by the Viper that he contacted me on his way home and ordered a winch for his RZR! Thank you for sharing your story, it is a true testament to what these winches can do...

Chris, you sold more than one Viper after this recovery.:)
I got a Viper Elite from you also. I was very impressed after watching that winch work for several hours.

I thought Cows grazed on grass Not Rocks!!:rofl3:

We were all impressed, that winch is still mounted in my car and working just fine.

I had a warn and it failed miserably so i purchased a smittybuilt xt40 and love it I have treated it like crap and it still keeps working. Great product for a great price.

I took apart my xt30 yesterday and this is what I found. Honestly smelled like pipe or bong residue. I touched the ends and it fell apart more. Luckily it's under warranty. Just sent it out. Hope warn gets me one that works. I never even used it but I stay in deep waters lately.

Viper customer service is awesome and when I have ordered replacement parts they usually ship the same day. BTW the replacement parts were from someone yanking on my winch and nothing faulty on viper's part.

I have a 2500 lb Viper Max on my Rancher 420. Saturday I pulled a 750 Brute that had a broke belt out of a hole. What was so surprising is that the brute was buried almost to the fenders in gumbo. They also had another brute there with a 3500 lb Warn that could not move it. We had to tie another wheeler to mine to hold me still while I winched it out. I put the Viper on my wheeler the day before that. I also pulled a Commander 1000 out that had snapped both front axles that day. I am seriously impressed with this little 2500 Viper, every winch I buy from now one will be a viper. Thanks Moto for building such a good winch.

Has anyone used a portable warn winch for pulling your car back onto four wheels? If so how has it functioned? I like the idea of using it to right the buggy around, just not sure how well they work.

TIORUM3....I am SERIOUSLY impressed with the video and the splicing on this thread. Well done. Wow.

Deer hunting, we ended up with 2 medium size deers. Way down over the hillside. Backed the RZR 570 down the logging trail, Hooked the deer to the back of the RZR (dragging style). started up the trail. Trail was covered with leaves and had frozen and started to thaw. Half way up the hill that was it, all tires spinning. Had to use my Viper Max 2500lb with syn rope to pull me, RZR, and 2 deer out of the woods. Had to rehook about 8 times, and trail was so bad if you released winch pressure you would slide backwards. I had just installed my winch a few days before. Thank You Viper! And the deer salami is good too!

As much as I'd love to take credit for the video, the guy who did this has a whole series of videos about amsteel rope. I just found the one that was most applicable to me. I am happy he did it though. I followed his instructions and had the rope fixed in about an hour (with me messing around trying things out). Definitely makes amsteel all that more valuable since its so easy to fix breaks and frays!

Well...my first ATV was a 2006 sportsman X2 that I bought two to two and a half years ago. It came with a 2500 lb Polaris branded winch. My understanding is that Warn made their winches back then. About a year ago I got tired of fighting with the free spool on it. I figured if it had lasted 6 years, it was worth buying another Warn. So i bought a warn rt25. A little after I installed it, it would not freespool. I took it apart and found water/rust in the gears. Cleaned it up, lubed it, and put a small smear of sealant on the cover.

I picked up a 2008 sportsman 300 and put a polaris brand 1500 lb winch on it, and had similar problems.

With my past experience, I wanted to try something other than Warn or Polaris when I picked up the rzr in December. That is how I wound up looking at viper.

I ordered a viper elite 3500 and mount from motoalliance off eBay. When it came, it had two boxes (winch and mount) inside a larger box. The larger box had no damage. When I unpacked it I found that the hood on the switch was broken, and the switch mounting hardware was missing. I installed it using the leftovers from when I installed the Warn rt25 on my sportsman. During the install, I found that the contactor had the four nuts on it, but only had 3 washers. This, with the broken switch and missing switch mount had me thinking maybe I got.a return or something. Contacted motoalliance through eBay and was sent a new switch and mount.

In the hardware I had left when I went to install the receiver and contactor were two small bags with four screws and nuts each. One was too large, so I split the other bag between the receiver and contactor.

The instructions were vague at best. They had no diagrams in them (line drawing would have been very beneficial). The instructions referred to cap screws and lock washers that did not exist in the kit. There were some dark pictures on the last page that didn't seem to be of much use.

When I finished up the install I went through all the paperwork and could find anything about the wireless remote (again, seemed like I was missing stuff, which left me wondering if I got a return). I called in and got no answer, so I left a message. I later figured out that I had to push the small button on the receiver to marry the remote to the receiver. Problem was, when I turned the rzr off and back on, it was no longer married and I had to do it again. The next day when they returned my call, I was told their normal tech person was on vacation getting married and that the caller would try to help me. I told him my situation and he told me they used to be like that but the new ones are supposed to stay married. He told me how to marry the new ones, and that if it didn't work to call back and they would send me out the new version. It didn't work, so I called back and got voicemail again. Left a message and never heard back. That was about a week ago.
