How to fix the 4X4 Vibration

OK, I have a bad vibration when in 4 wheel drive. I lifted it up and pulled the skid pates off. My first thought was that the vibration had to be coming from the 2 long drive shafts when in 4x4. Well I see that the shafts are turning all of the time. The only thing that engages when the 4x4 kicks in is the front demand drive.
If the drive shafts were the issue it should be vibrating all of the time. Has anyone figured out the problem? And how was it fixed?

I only feel the vibration in 4wd. This is my take on it. It is a torsional vibration that comes from the drive shaft speeding up and slowing down not shaking side to side. In 2wd it's still there since the shaft is turning all the time but it's not transferring any torque. The drive shaft itself isn't very heavy or stiff so you don't feel it. In 4wd that vibration gets transferred through the front diff, axles and all the way out to the front tires.

Well I figure if I subscribe to all the post I'll finally get an answer maybe. I agree with the original post here, it's turning all the time,(driveshaft) so noise/vibration how ever you want to identify it should be all the time. On mine if I engage the AWD switch I have a noise, turn it off noise is gone. Also intensifies moving steering wheel left and right swerving motion. Doesn't matter what the speed. And for the first 12 hours no noise just started all of a sudden. The dealer is telling me this is "normal". BS!

Mine too.. bought it little over a month ago, got 16 hours on it and started to vibrate in 4x4.. more so when turn side to side. Already know its going to be an issue with dealer as he's saying its normal. I don't agree. soon as I get answers I will post. its driving me crazy. please, anyone have any answers to this, please let me/us know.. thanks

From what I understand these driveshsfts are very thin and bend over time. I believe thats why the vibration may show up later. Those of you that had the phased and balanced, did you do new shafts? Im not a fan of the rubber. It may mask the problem but if there is something vibrating that shouldnt be it will eventually cause problems. I dont believe you feel it while its not under load like G-Ray said. With that being said this wheel turning, changing the vibes throws off my whole theory.

Unfortunately I think all xp1k4's will have this issue. I dont think this is a "built of friday" problem. Polaris should look into this and give us an explanation, however many wont have a driect effect from this untill after the 6 month warranty so I would think thay wont say or do anything. :-(

I think your right about it being blanket issue. I do believe it will all come out in the wash. Unfortunately, your right. untill the problem shows up and is consistently breaking down and polaris has no choice but face a class action court case or address the problem I really doubt they will do anyhing. Kinda like with the belts/helix issues. I paid for my helix. They made it right eventually for me but when I wanted it installed on my rzr there wasnt a problem with the stock helix they said.

Mine has been vibrating in 4x4 since day 1. Some say phasing works, some don't. It seems the ones that take there driveline to shops that rephrase and balance have better luck.

I think G ray has some logic. I notice some people taking video of there driveline spinning. They seem to be approx. 1/4" out-of-round. I decided to do the same, take a video of my driveline. Low and behold, mine is the same as the others approx. 1/4" out-of-round or should I say it has a wobble.
I took the video down to my dealer. I showed Derrick (the parts guy), he said to bring it down and show Rob (the owner) on Monday. So we will se what happens.

My thoughts, the driveline has a lot to do with the vibrating.

Everyone with 1000's should see if there driveline has a wobble. If so, take a video of it and show it to your dealer. Or send them to Polaris.

I agree that the wobble is not good and should not be there. The only issue i have with that being the problem is that the shaft is always turning and yet you don't have any noise and or vibration until the front drive kicks in. I think it is in the front drive and there is no fix for it. I think Polaris will have to redesign the front drive. I wonder if the 2015's have the vibrations???

We re-phase and balance the 2 shafts as one shaft and that gets rid of the vibration. Have a local shop do that for you. Do it and you will like the results. We actually re-tube both shafts with chromoly tubing on our Z1 builds. I still get a slight "noise" when I engage the front diff on a solid hard surface when I turn left or right which is the diff.

We are running the 1k at 105 mph on the street with NO vibration now.
