I've read the manual and still seem to be confused. Can someone explain how to adjust the shifter at the transmission to me. With the cable completely disconnected the cable move freely. My problem is, I am having a hard time shifting the handle from different gears. I just did a service and no change.

Had the same issue with 2010 and ended breaking the shifter bracket. Don't think adjustment is the problem with the two nuts on the motor side of the cable is all you have. My problem was the cable that was replaced and now shifts with two fingers. There has been some issues with the detent ball in the transmission. Do a search " difficulty shifting" and you can pull up several threads. Good luck!

I had difficulty shifting... turned out it was corrosion on the cable as it goes though the rubber sleeve prior to the transmission (causing excessive binding)... cleaned, WD40'ed now all good.
Originally I believed it was the detent ball/spring issues previously mentioned:

Hope this helps, Good luck:ride:

My problem was the detent ball was in the bottom of the case and the spring was all jacked up. Appearantly it was not properly installed at the factory and the spring acted as the detent until it finally got pulled between the shift detent plate and the case and then it would get stuck in gear, had to jerk on the shifter really hard to get it to shift. Inspect the detent ball by removing the center bolt not the outter bolt from the case, remove the spring and then the ball IF it is in there.

Driver side of the trans where the shift lever is. I recommend getting in a service manual to view the procedure.

Go to page 8.11 for pics. But study the pic carefully and do not remove the sleeve or the ball will fall into the transmission. The sleeve almost touches the detent plate inside the trans therefore stopping the ball from falling in. There is no need to remove the sleeve unless you will be disassembling the trans.
