I'd give him maybe a G for it....I'm a little crazy I guess. I bought one with an aftermarket cage and doors, a long travel kit and prp seats for 2g...it needed everything. The seats were hammered, the suspension needed every pivot point redone, the motor was in pieces.
I went through both of my 800's at the same time. I put all the long travel stuff on my Turbo car with all new bushings, I used the RT kits and beefed up all the pivot points and frames on both cars. All the wheel bearings I either greased or replaced, I did all new ball joints, I rebuilt the motor and did the pinion nut, resealed the transmission, changed all the fluids, new belt, got new seat covers from PRP.
These 800's are so cheap and used parts are everywhere.
Now I have a 2 800's...one is a Turbo long travel with really good Fox shocks, (the LT kit was Lonestar racing) and PRP seats with an aftermarket cage and doors and another 800 that is mostly stock with S suspension and high comp pistons in the motor (I live at 5000' )
I think it depends on your mechanical skills, and if you are using it as parts or trying to rebuild it. I'm pretty happy, I have 2 800's I'm into both less than 10G with a lot of work put into them and they are a lot of fun for less with the trailer I haul them on than most people have into 1.
