How many rzr s with rear axle problems?

Just thought it would be interested to see how many rzrs have had rear axle problems. By axle concerns I mean the axle fell out of the carrier.
I just got mine back from the dealer where it spent the last 5 weeks waiting for parts on backorder and as they tried to fix the problem correctly. In the end I have 2 new axles and a new carrier.
So I am #1 on the list lets see how many their are and how the problem was fixed.

Mine is in the shop right now. I was having the same problem with the rear driver side axle falling out of the carrier. Also having problem with a loud popping noise coming from the front driver side when turning left all the way. The last time I talked to my dealer they told me they where going to be replacing the front and rear driver side axles but it would be a one time thing because I have a snorkel on it which means I probably ride it hard and jump it and stuff. I don't see what a snorkel has to do with front-end and rear-end and I thought the S model was made for jumping. I can see them not wanting to warranty the engine due to the snorkel. If I have this problem again with the axles and they wont warranty it due to having a snorkel I think I will just get my lawyer involved.

Mine is in the shop right now, for going on the 4th week, parts on backorder as well. My axle popped out as well, left rear. My dealer is only going to replace the left axle and a new carrier. For parts to be on backorder this long there must be alot of occurrences with axles on RZR's.

Just curious, if this problem you guys have with axles on S could somehow be related to bigger CV joint S use on rear. Because I am pretty sure rear end is a same as regular RZR. IMHO

Mine came out after some very slow riding through rough terrain where the suspension was really articulating.
I had heard that others were having issues with the driver side axle popping out, so when it started driving funny that was the first place I looked.
It drives terrible in the sand with 1 wheel drive! But didn't grind at all when cornering in the paved parking lot on the way back to the trailer!
I guess that's why the full size ranger has a "turf mode" with one wheel drive!

Is the carrier failure from extended suspension travel or from driving the RZR on hard surfaces such as asphalt / concrete?

We absolutely avoid any sharp turns on pavement (typically the S is only on pavement when it is loaded on the trailer). Without a differential, something has to give in a turn, and it seems driving on pavement is just a bad idea.

I think there must have been a machining error or something that caused a whole batch of RZR-S to have the same problem, not how they are driven. For a bunch of machines to have the same problem shortly after being released, and for Polaris to replace the differential and both axles under warranty with no questions asked, they must know of a problem with how the axle is retained in the differential.

I am kind of glad mine came out so soon after I bought it. Now I don't feel like I have a ticking time bomb in the rear differential,,, Assuming the new differential doesn't have the same defect!

I tore the rear diff. out of mine last week, the dealer had me back up and running in 8 days. As for the popping noise from the front, Polaris has released a kit to solve that problem. It is just a few spacers that sit behind the castle nut and the original washers on the hub, believe it or not it works. Hope this helps.

Happy Trails

Mine now in for the second time for the left rear coming out.
Next time I am thinking about delivering it through the front window of the shop.
My Dealer says Polaris does not acknowledge the problem and will not replace the diff.
Just reinstall the shaft.
This last time it lasted 60 kms before letting go again, the second time ridden since the last time it was in the shop for three weeks waiting for a new clip for the axle.
Bombardier, sign me up!

I had my rear differential and both axles replaced two weeks after I purchased it in September. I have 900 miles on my S and no more problems to speak of. The dealer told me the groove for the axle clip in the rear was machined wrong and wouldnt lock in thats why it popped out.

Mine came out today for the 2nd time, went to Horsefall, I was on the beach going 20mph
& noticed in driving like I had a flat looks like my left rear axle slipped out of the diff. I am not sure about warranty I bought it in Oct 08, it has 170 miles & 30 hrs.

left rear popped out at about 250 miles, we were in the middle of no where so I popped it back in, 1000 miles now and it's never happened again.

I just bought an RZRS tonight...

I haven't taken it out yet, but does anyone know if later production runs have resolved this issue?
I bet you are ok... If Polaris is replacing diffs and both axles under warranty and paying the dealers for the labor, you know they are going to correct the problem on any new units going out the factory door...

This weekend I noticed that a RZR-S newer than mine had plated tie rods. Mine are black. Polaris makes small changes without telling anyone.

Just as a side note to everyone. Keep track of all the days your RZR spends in the shop and add it to the end of your warranty. If it spends 1 month at the dealer waiting for parts it extends your warranty by 1 month. I'm not trying to hijack this thread but it sounded like it was taking a lot of time to get them fixed.

My dealer replaced the axles first and had me use it to see if that fix the problem I tested it and they came out, so they replaced the carrier and did it in 2 days. No problems now. A friend of mine turned his shocks up 2 turns and his left axle came out the first time he tried his adjustment. Well to make a long story short he lowered his shocks and the axle has not come back out.

Update. I took my RZR S to Parkers ATV in North Bend,Or & though my bikes warranty expired in March, a gentleman by the name of Bob assured me he would do everything possible to get corporate to stand by their product. I left the dealership feeling pretty good, within an hour Bob called and said my parts should arrive in a week.

Glad to hear they took care of you because I just picked up a brand new RZR-s on 5/20 and they had just got it in that day. Camped at Winchester Bay from 5/21-5/31 and after 4.6 hours the right rear axle popped out and would not stay back in. I was going about 40 mph on the flat sand and when I let off the gas the RZR took a quick dive to the left and we almost went sky/sand!! I will be calling them first thin tomorrow morning and get it in to be fixed. So it looks like some are still coming in with this problem :rollfinger:

Parkers has always been pretty good to deal with.

I was at Coos the last two weekends, have to go to LA this weekend though.... but I may try to get back down there the weekend after that.

I have not had any problems yet, I just got it 3 weeks ago but have been duning it plenty so far.
