Hey guys, I'm looking to build an overhead console type stereo for my rzr. I wanted to get a look at a few that you guys have built yourself for some ideas. What did you use to mount it? Post 'em up!
That is the sweetest setup I think I've seen. Wish I could do that kind of workI have done 2
The first was two pieces for my stock cage on my S

Then the second was for my new xp with custom cage.

After bondo and then primed

Ready to install

Finished
I welded tabs on the cage for it to bolt to
All of my electronics are mounted in the rood easily accessible by removing a few bolts to pull off the roof panel.

Took me awhile to do but turned out great.

You can do it! Its not that hard to do and whats the worse than can happen? Ifyou like it you have a cool part that you made yourself. If it doesnt turn out to suit you just throw it away and start over. Always here to answer questions or help. That is the sweetest setup I think I've seen. You dont pull it away it becomes part of the structure. Think of it like this. Your skeleton is pine strips about 1/2x 1 1/2and that is covered with thin plywood in the large areas .then when you stretch the Tshirt material over everything your making a cloth skin .The cloth skin will bridge the gaps and smooth out the shape creating slopes and round off areas to make it all kind of flow together. BUT it needs to be a hard tough surface. The Resin will soak through the tshirt material bonding it to the wood where it touches and will make it solid where it is stretched between areas with no wood touching it. Areas with no wood will require more resin to make it strong enough. If you were going to use this like a free form you would need to use fiberglass matt for strength. Thats why I use light weight materials like pine and very thin plywood. It just needs to be strong enough to hold everything together until it gets resin coated . Once its coated and hardens it joins all the weak pieces together makin it very strong ...And it doesnt weigh a ton. Thats why I dont use MDF because its too heavy.Magic, how do you pull the t-shirt away from the wood after it is ready?
added more photos today, got the radio box, speakers and other boxes setup, ready to start sanding monday and fiberglassingupdate
had to relocate the back center bolt was in way of blending the wood frame so i put two instead of one
