When decelerating, especially at low speed, my transmission has always had a slight "whine" (the engine braking feature). Last weekend, the slight whine started sounding like the old flathead, 4-banger military jeeps in 4 wheel drive low range. The change was very sudden, and is persisting. Only when decelerating, and most noticeable at low speed.

Suggestions?

How many miles your rig have Barry? its a 09 right?..CVT clutch, Tranny, Transfer case, front and rear end ...and hole drive train..so the noise could be coming from many places...The problem is finding where it is coming from...I would take the clutch cover off...and drive it and try to locate noise..with clutch cover off it should be way louder and may-be easier to detect where noise is coming from...some sort of bearing when you let off..may that one way bearing...Another back-yard mechanic test..take cvt belt off...put in gear and tow it around to see if its drive train...wish I was there to help...
