I did purchase a brand new OEM rear cover, because that was Matt’s recommendation at SDI. Didn’t change anything, alignment is still off according to the tool.

So after going to SDI and following all their steps, after jumping through all of their hoops, after spending close to $300 on this useless tool and another $300 on parts they told me to buy but found later, I do not need....after offering to pay them to use their tool to fix my problem to show me how this tool works....I am left with nothing more than an empty pocket and (according to their tool) a misaligned  clutch.  SDI refuses to take me up on my offer to pay them to align my clutch using their tool to fix the problem because they say they do not do repairs....I asked them for my money back and they told me no.  I asked if they would be willing to exchange the tool in case the tool is defective....they told me no!  When I finally asked them if what they sold me was basically a $300 paper weight....they answered “I guess so”.

Call them back and ask to speak to the company president or whoever the HMFWIC is. Lay out the details politely.

When I first purchased the tool they told me there was no instructions for the turbo. Seems like recently SDI made an instruction sheet and also added a few things on their tool description

Have you been having belt or clutch issues?

I would throw the SDI tool in the trash and chalk it up to lessons learned. I never need an excuse to buy a new tool as I'm a firm believer in the right tool makes for a job done correctly. This is a pointless tool that does NOTHING but take people's money with ZERO benefit. Shame on SDI and shame on @Hunterworks for defending them. SDI is not the only ones offering such a useless tool. There is NO adjustment on the XPT clutch housing.

As I said originally and in other threads, the clutch backing plate IS the alignment tool. It is a thick cast aluminum piece that does not bend or flex and has no room for "adjustment". Cast aluminum will break or fracture before it bends. When the engine and trans are bolted in place via the housing it's self aligning.

Sorry for the rant but I have ZERO tolerance for a company taking advantage of someone who is looking to them for advice.

Im sorry you feel that way, but it happens, the aluminum has been bending and I don't sell the tool for the turbo

There is a company near SDI that asked them to make the tool to check this as they are getting bent covers and wanted a quick way to check it. So after they made them one, they decided to sell it.

You can believe it or not, I assure you Hunterworks will not mislead anyone. I am just passing on information, I don't sell the tool for the turbo. We have not decided what to do with this new information but I 100% believe it is happening.

I will see if I can get pics or a bent back cover.

I will call them for you today, just does not sound right. I will see if they can help you out.

On the $300 tool, it is $230 or so where did the $70 come in

Also all you have to do is get a different tranny tube for $70 and use it on non turbos

Todd, just to be clear I was not inferring that Huntworks was misleading anyone. I have heard nothing but good things about you and you offer great experience and knowledge on clutching. But defending a company making a pointless tool to make a few extra bucks is not cool.

Let me add: In order to use the tool you need to remove the primary and secondary clutches. At this point it would only take another ten minutes to remove the cover and lay it on a flat surface to check to see "if" it's bent.

What if the bent part is where the engine or tranny mounts on the rear and the front is perfectly flat.

I will get to the bottom of this and hope it will be today but here is how I think this went down

That company next door was running into this issue, they wanted a tool to put on fast so they didn't have to take cover off and check it etc. Worked for them and SDI said we will make more going off those guys info.

If shaft spacing on a turbo is 10.5" like the rest of polaris then the tool can't be off or bad. If it will not go on then the two shafts are not parallel and they are not 10.5"

They make tools, I am the one that had to tell them the 16 secondary tube works on generals and 17 ranger 1000, they make tools

On the guy here with all the trouble, I can't say but again out of concern for all of you I promise I will get to the bottom of it, at this point I have no skin in the game and I am always looking for things to help folks run problem free.
