So I want to use my ipad1 wifi only as a gps on my xp, has anyone used
One of those add-on devices for using a wifi only with gps apps?
There are a few out there but not sure which one would work for
Trails better. Thanks

Bad Elf 1000 30-Pin iPod/iPhone/iPad GPS Receiver

But you'll still need a data connection to get the maps. So unless you have WiFi in the woods at best it will be able to do is use stored maps (which couldn't be that extensive) and display GPS coordinates.

To be honest with you, before I went sinking serious money into making a 1st gen iPad into a GPS receiver, I'd upgrade.

I use the Garmin Oregon. My only complaint is that it is small...with a capital S..M...ALL!!! I'd love to use my iPad on the trail. I'm just too chicken

If you use the Motion X HD with the bad elf you won't need a data connection because the maps will be loaded.
