I have a 2011 RZR S LE and I have notice that the front diff is leaking oil where the cv joint go in to the front diff. Is common for the front diff to leak oil out around the cv on the front diff?
I wanted to bump this thread to see if there is anything new about the leaking seals since this was last updated in 2012. My 2013 800S is leaking fluid from the right side of the demand drive where the axle goes in. The axles on both sides of the demand drive have some play where they go into the demand drive. I'm guessing i need to replace the seal that is leaking and replace the bearings??? I have 750 miles on it which 600 were on it when i bought it and i have no idea what it was put thru before I got it. I do know both the front and rear diff fluids were like chocolate milk when i changed all of the fluids and there was mud in places i didn't think you could get mud. I'm guessing it might have been rode hard on a couple of occasions???:ride: Is there a demand drive rebuild kit? can i just order the seals and bearings? Or do i have to sell the farm and spend the $1000 on a new demand drive? Thanks for any help anyone can give!!!!
Yes there is a rebuild kit by All Balls Racing with the bearings and seals for the front diff. I found it on eBay for as low as $85. I'm currently waiting on mine to come in (ordered Sunday night) where I have my right front axle seal leaking too.
WyattRacing - could you snap some pics and comment a little when you install the rebuild? You will have to press the bearings on the female hubs right, how hard is it to set the depth? On the seals Id just use RocketSeals, they have leaked less than Polaris in my experience. Id also be curious on the measurements.
What I am curious about is in my case the seal just not large enough. I was asking for measurements on the outside of the female hub and the inside of the diff case on. I took those measurements from the front right output.
Plainsman, I haven't pulled the rzr diff apart yet but bearings generally have a stop on the hub or gear to set the depth there may be shims but unless you are changing gears the difference between bearings is negligible and do not require tampering of shims hope this helps.
See my link. I'm thinking my diff was cast with the seal hole bigger. Curious what yours would measure out to. The outside casting and inside hub side.
If you look at your outputs, and the seal is out, measure the outer diameter and inner diameter of the area the seal would be installed into. I used a caliper.
