I bought a 900 last week and im looking some good system. I have found quite a bit on ths SSV but loudness and clarity seem to arise as an issue. Then I came across the Froghead system but have not seen any comparisons between the two or what. I am looking to buy this week and not sure which to get. The Frog is cheaper for a four speaker system, so I am leaning that way but just looking for anyone that has dealt with both or why they choose what they choose. I have no one in my area with either to listen before I buy. So I am leaning on you guys to help me make the right choice. Does either work with a Cooter Brown roof?

Guys,
Like any purchase, you will always have choices of what you buy and from who. What steers your decision is how well the product is designed, quality, warranty, value for your dollar and after the sale customer support.

SSV Works was started in 2006 by audio professionals who have a passion for off-road. SSV works currently has several side by side vehicles in our stable (2012 RZR XP, 2011 RZR 4, 2008 Teryx, 2012 Teryx4) that we drive regularly for product testing, development and off-road events. We are out in the dunes, on the trails and in the mud just like you. We want our systems loud, clear and durable, just like you do.

All SSV Works products are developed in house by our product engineers that have decades of custom audio experience and training. At SSV Works, we don’t take an off the shelf product, shove it in a box and call it a side by side stereo. All SSV Works overheads are built with a Side by Side Vehicle specific dock that is designed by SSV Works. All SSV Works docks are manufactured with specific components to work in an off-road environment and a side by sides charging system. Anyone can find a simple off the shelf piece designed for another application that may work in your side by side and call it a tested side by side stereo.

Currently our staff has over 50 years of combined mobile audio and Electronics experience. We have been involved in audio manufacturing since the early 90’s and have master certified installers on staff that have designed and built award winning audio systems and show vehicles for several major audio manufacturers.

When developing a product we make sure it fits the vehicle perfectly and most importantly sounds great. We design different systems for different customers and do not believe in the one size fits all concept. We offer simple two speaker systems that drop into a RZR in 15 minutes to a five speaker ground pounding system with over 1K watts of power. We currently have or can build a package for just about anyone.

SSV Works is the innovator and leader in side by side audio. SSV Works was the first to manufacture speaker pods and subwoofer enclosures for a side by side. SSV Works is the only manufacturer of side by side vehicle specific subwoofer enclosures. We are also the only manufacturer that offers a complete overhead system with OE quality components that are 100% designed for a side by side.

SSV Works stands behind all of its product and customers and we challenge you to find a company with a better reputation and customer service.

These are just a few reasons why you should consider SSV Works or an SSV Works Dealer / Partner for all of your side by side audio needs

SSV All the way...I have the 4 speaker system..No its not the loudest system on the market but I it is loud enough for me to hear it with my helmet on running 50-60+ mph. And while im running at slower speeds without a helmet it satisfies me well and I have a background of very loud car stereos with 5000+ watt amps ect...

The SSV unit is also very well built and their customer service is very good.

Go with SSV! Greg is like many of the Vendors on the forums, top notch. He is very helpful and very knowledgeable and we've spoke on the phone several times. I have never heard him talk down on another company or feel the need to boast about why his is better. He lets the product do the talking.

Regarding the volume and sound quality, I've not seen or heard about these issues. Based on my own experience, I've had no problems whatsoever with mine and even with a fully open cab and running LOOOOOOOOUD snorkels right behind my ear I have never had any issues with volume or clarity. When I have my cab on in the winter I barely have to turn it up, even with the snorkels rattling my brain.

I have a few questions about Frog Head? Are they made specifically to your model of RZR? When you call, will the owner pick up the phone and talk to your personally, even though you can hear several of his guys working in the background? Is Frog Head a supporting Vendor, who gives RZR Forums discounts?

I know of at least 12 people that have went out and bought SSV systems after hearing mine and everyone of them is very happy.

You will not find a better combination of service and product.

By the way, I only have the 2 Speaker Overhead System and may or may not go with the +2 kit they have because I am perfectly happy with the way it sounds now. Im sure I will get the +2, but it will be just another thing that I get to brag about on the RZR, LOL.

I went with the Froghead 4 speaker Kickers with the Aquatic AV locker/AMP. It flat out jams. Going to compare to the 4 speaker SSV in my buddies XP in a week or two. I can honestly say, I spoke with Brian several times over this system and debated a few weeks over which way to go. So far I am all smiles. Jammed it last night with my Yosh RS4 at full throttle and it will run you out of the RZR. Clear mids and highs. I may put in a sub down the road. It also has the marine blue lighting in the speakers which add bling!!!

I have an almost new 4 speaker overhead, SSV set-up in my XP. Considering selling it but not because it's low quality or anything. In fact, SSV makes top notch stuff but since the helmet law kicked in, it's made the listening experience less enjoyable when we are tearing up the dunes.

I'm going to stick with SSV but just go with a more powerful system I think. The customer service is fantastic and Greg and Brandon have went out of their way for me on more than one occasion. I'd say rock the SSV system.

If anyone is interested in buying mine, feel free to PM

The froghead system will blow the SSV out of the water. At least the 2 speaker, so I assume the 4 will do the same. I've had both 2 speaker systems. I originally had the SSV (got a great deal on, and Greg is top notch over there), and my buddies ordered the Froghead one. Theirs was way louder and clearer than mine. Sold the stereo with the RZR, and bought my brand new '13 S. First thing I bought for it was the froghead industries 2 speaker set up with the Kicker marine speakers with the blue LED lights in them.

I will say, that I never had any issues with the SSV one, and it worked great. Just if you are comparing the two, my Froghead is louder and clearer than the SSV one was.

Well, I'm on my second SSV system. I had a 2010 Robbie Gordon and put the 4 speaker locker in that. I was nice, but the volume was not as loud as I liked. I sold the car and bought the XP4. This time I dropped the grand and bought the 5 speaker system with the 1K amp. Holy Crap, it's like night and day difference. I have had no issues with distortion at any volume.

Greg is a class act. Great customer service.

SSV here...sorry no experience with Froghead. All our crew has the SSV and the two or four speakers systems are pretty good, but make sure you get what you truly want the first time. I went big (IMO) with the two speakers up top, two in pods inside, the sub, 1200 watts and upgraded the speakers. I have zero complaints other then needing to upgrade the stereos in my personal vehicles to even compare to my Rzr. I personally think the sub is a must. I know some of my buddies wish they had upgraded in the beginning. Good luck. Also had great dealings with Greg and the guys at SSV.

I've got the Froghead and I love it. It comes with a 288 watt amp vs. a 50 watt amp that the SSV has. I ride with a helmet on and never have to turn it up all the way. It is really loud and clear. I have a cooter brown roof and it fits nicely with it. Very easy install as well only two wires one power one ground and totally waterproof.

All SSV Works docks have a 50 watt x 4 amplifier built in. This is not a 50 watt total amplifier.

Please also keep in mind when comparing the SSV Works overheads to the competition that you are comparing apples to apples. Comparing an SSV Works two speaker overhead to a competitors 4 speaker package is simply not a fair comparison.

If you have a two speaker (WP-ORZ) SSV Works overhead please keep in mind that you are only using 50% of the amplifiers total power. The additional two speakers plug directly in and make a huge difference in sound.

:)

This is exactly right. Just compare the amps. That is why my froghead is so much clearer and louder than my ssv one was. Once again, I only had the 2 speaker setup of both of them, but the ssv wasn't nearly loud enough for me. It was also distorted when riding at high speeds because you had to turn it up so loud.

U say the froghead is alot louder. Does your system have the Magnadyne speakers or did u upgrade them? I have the ssv 4 speaker right now without any of there upgraded speakers or amps and its a nice clean looking good working setup but its deff not nearly loud enough.

Got the Froghead 4 speaker unit a month ago, worked awesome.
Went for a 3 day run and it was great, only issue is that remote died after the first day.
Had to use the buttons on the unit itself, but still worked great.

So a week later I finally remember to pick up a new battery, and i try the remote.
Did the pairing sequence and then nothing, it will pair but the buttons don't work (either the remote or the unit). The remote flickers and the unit powers up but that's it. Cant even shut it off.

So I e-mail Bryan, and he responds via phone that evening, tried a few different things and determined it was a faulty unit. He said because I'm in Canada, it would be easier to deal with Aquatic AV (manufacturers of the head unit) directly. Which I found odd cause if I broke a shock, I don't think Polaris would tell me to call Fox...but whatever works.

So finally I get a call yesterday from Aquatic, and basically told me that there units don't break and I'm the first. They were trying to say damaged it, but I assured them it wasn't.
So he said in order to send me a new unit I need to fill out a form and send it back, then they can start the process. Which sounds like this may take awhile.
Anyway, its the day later and still waiting for that form, guess e-mails take while from California.

Going to have to wait and see I guess, but it looks like there will be no tunes for the next few weeks.
Does anyone know of any issues regarding these units?

My media locker is the BT unit and I have been thru two of them... Replaced by A AV no problems...My 3" dash remote (maverick) was dead upon arrival too, My backlit speakers 2 stopped working and Brian basically told me to pound sand... This was all in a week of getting it...Brian quoted me a price then charged my CC 68 more dollars than the quote....And I have yet to receive a invoice for my purchase....Brian is all about the sale then ur ass starts to hurt with ANY problems....

I ordered what I thought was the same system as my buddies. When it got here, I didn't like the look if it (speakers were the cheap ones). I called Brian, and he said that they had probably bought there's at the end if the year when the kicker speakers were running a special to move inventory to make room for the new models. Brian sent me a box, only charged me an upgrade for the speakers to the kickers, and put the ones with the LED lights for free.

Only issue I had, was it looked like someone had put the remote in the holder backwards before they shipped it, and it stretched the holder out to where it wouldnt hold the remote snug. Emailed Brian, had a response and new holder free of charge shipped out next day, and it showed up within 2 days. My system has worked flawlessly, and Brian has been great to deal with. With the remote holder messed up, and me ordering the wrong system, he has taken great care of me and everything has always showed up in 2 days or less shipping.

Re: Re: FrogHead vs. SSV

My remote doesn't appear to hold snug either but its never fallen out so I don't worry about it. I got the free upgraded lighted speakers as well and am very happy with them.

Yeah, I haven't messed with it yet, but I bet I could heat it up some with a hair dryer or something and bend it to where it would fit more snug, but they just sent me a new one. Now I have two.

I should clarify the reason I got the wrong system in the first place. My buddies in each of their RZRs ordered their Froghead systems the same time. They told me they were around $500. I called Brian and he gave me the prices. They cheapest one was like $460 with the magandyne speakers. I assumed since my buddies don't know much about stereo's, they just ordered the cheaper ones and were done with it. I never really looked close at their speakers. I ordered what I thought was the same system (the cheapest one they offered) and it arrived the next day. The speakers had a mesh type grille over them and just looked cheap to me. Thats when I called him and he said that my buddies had probably got the Kickers in their systems, just closer to the same price because of the end of the year when they ordered, and kicker wanting to rid of some inventory. He upgraded my speakers for half the price of what I would have ordered new, and put the ones with the LED lights in there for free. I shipped the old one back, and had my new one in a few days. He saved me the shipping by charging my card for the 2nd system too (so I had 2 systems on my card), then refunding the 1st one back same day. Very happy with them.

And like I said, I'm not knocking the SSV at all. It just wasn't near as loud as my Froghead one (comparing the 2 speaker setups). Honestly, I thought it looked cleaner installed in the cage since the Froghead is more "boxy" looking. However, the new SSV generations have gotton rid of the remote I believe, so the only way to change the songs is to physically push the button on the stereo. Is that correct? Either way, I lost my remote with my old SSV Generation 1 I used to have, and it cost me $40 to replace. If the new ones are setup with no remote, thats another reason i like my Froghead, because I like to be able to carry the remote with me and change the songs away from the RZR.

Sounds like we need to get you upgraded into a third generation unit with Bluetooth and much more power. These new docks not only have the Bluetooth, but adjustable bass treble balance and fader a built in LED dome light and almost twice as must power from a new class D amplifier.

Give me a call or a PM and I will put something together for you. The upgrade will make a huge difference in sound quality and volume.
