I'm most probably going to buy a S900 non-EPS soon tho I'm considering a Wildcat X.

I've never bought an atv or a bike. Is being charged for freight and assembly common?

Any guidance on what a good price is on an s900 white lighting?

I can tell you to stay away from those wildcats! buddy bought two of them and I don't think we had a ride where he didn't have an issue. first one was a 2012 I think and the next was a wildcat x. my biggest pet peeve is that there tie rods are in front of the a-arms so if you run into the smallest thing your tie rod bends and you cant steer.

I would test drive both, and see what you like and get for the price. EPS in my opinion is they way to go, aftermarket or factory. When I purchased my freight and prep was waived so it's not wrong to ask. A lot of people harp on either machine treat them right and usually it'll treat you the same. I've had my 800 for 2 years and haven't had any problems, bigger tires now sooner or later an axle will go but thats on me for going bigger. Soak up all the info you can on the forums 900s section and then go to more then one dealer and compare. Don't rush into a purchase, there's a lot of time to have fun.

Take your time and call around. Call dealers out of state also. You'll get an idea pretty quick what a good out the door price is. And that's the question you need to ask. Tell them you are spending the day calling around on RZR prices and you want the out the door price on whatever. If they know they have a lot of competition right away, you'll have less BS to deal with to get to the real number. If you find a smoking deal but it's further than you really want to drive, shop that number to some closer dealers. If none bite, then take a road trip.

And I agree with above... EPS is something you will wish you had if you don't get it. I've never heard anyone complain that they wish they hadn't got EPS.

Good luck on your hunt! Keep us posted regardless of what you get.

I looked at the Wildcat first. A local dealer had a few 2014s at a good price.
This was last fall when the 16s were just coming out.
I was close to purchasing when I talked to a guy who was at the dealer for repairs.
He was very unhappy with his and told me it had been in 3 times because 4WD quit working.
I checked out the RZR and the Polaris dealer was able to find me a 2015 which I wanted because they were offering a 2 yr warranty and a cash discount.
The Arctic Cat dealer still has a couple of non current 2014s which makes me wonder.

I've got a quote from a local dealer for a s900 non-EPS white lightning that I'm ok with. Basically Abernathy's price + freight + assembly + tax. Is it worth fighting for the freight/assembly?

Also, what's the likelihood of polaris increasing rebates on the '16 in September? I'm going on vacation for a few weeks and wouldn't have a chance to ride before I leave. Should I wait till I get back before ordering and then have to wait another week for it to get here? Or just pick it up before I leave so it's waiting for me?

I've ridden rzr's before and eps isn't important to me. If that changes, I'll get the superatv kit.

The Wildcat X could have been interesting if there was a good deal to be had. Local Arctic Cat dealer was quoting msrp so I didn't bother to follow up.

1,300 bucks is a pretty nice piece of change. I'd tell them to call if they decide they decide they can do better and I'd be considering a road trip. But it all depends on what your time is worth. Even if it's a couple days driving round trip with a reasonable hotel and meals, you're still going to save a pile of $$$.

Figure out what the whole trip will cost you..... Gas, meals, etc. Add that to Abernathy's price and make that offer to your dealer. Make it a firm "you can take this otd or I'm headed to Abernathy's". You and a buddy can (safely) make that trip straight through and forego the hotel expense. Maybe they'll go for it. Maybe they won't.

If you plan your departure time right, you can be there shortly after they open and be home that night with a new toy you saved a munch of $$$ on. And you'll need that extra cash for MODS!!! lol

OK residents buy and pay tag, title and tax within 30 days at time of registration. When you haul it back to your state, you should do whatever they require.

Call your local tag office. They will either be able to answer your question or will be able to point in the direction of someone who will. In OK, it's 4.25 or 4.5% plus a couple other small fees. I have purchased vehicles in TX before and it's the same process as if I purchase here in OK since I'm an OK resident. I go to my tag office within 30 days to get OK tag and registration.

I found this after a quick search...
Register Off-Road Vehicles & RVs in Texas | DMV.org
It's a little vague but from what I can see, you aren't required to register. There are some states that require you to carry proof of registration and insurance when you are riding there. Even if you are not required to register but will for a nominal fee, I would just to save you a headache later on. That way you aren't scrambling before a trip to get legal for the area you are traveling to. Like I said, call your tag office to find out for sure what you are required to do and what your options are if you aren't required to do anything.

Edit: Read through this FAQ. I think you'll find your answers.

Definitely get power steering my friend! I have a 2014 570efi I purchase w/o PS. For two years I struggled with and almost hurt myself driving it here in the Colorado Rockies. I ordered SuperATV's P/S kit ($599) and paid $213 getting it installed. Perhaps that's a cheaper option/route for you as well.

Unless you're just smooth trail riding, like others have recommended, get power steering on your UTV.

BTW, we paid those charges (fright/assembly) at my local dealership when we bought.

If your looking to save some $ & have your own tools I would buy a used one locally . Here you don't pay taxes on a used one.Get a friend that has one look at them with you. I was going to buy a new one & the same day I found out a friend was selling his & it's been a good machine to me for more than a few years now.

Definitely agree! After driving our old 08 800 and having to literally drive with 2 hands the whole time for fear of a rock ripping the wheel out of my hands to driving my brothers 16 turbo I would never ever buy a UTV without power steering. To be able to cruise with one hand on the wheel and a drink in the other is priceless after literally fighting to keep the 800 on the trails....

I certainly agree with the ESP as well. My first RZR was a 2009 800 bought last summer. Then a month or two later I bought a new 2015 900s with power steering which my wife drives, "that's another story". Check out RZR's Edge YouTube channel and you'll probably pick me out quickly :). However it didn't take me long to add the Superatv power steering to my 800. After full days of riding my wrist would be swollen and throbbing from having the wheel jerked out of my hand so many times. Not anymore! I will never have another RZR without EPS!
