I need to know what the code "61" is. The book only lists codes to 58. So what does it mean when it says code "61"? Does anyone know. This happens when the machine is hot, and it begins to misfire, and act as if the timing is off. Any help out there?
Hi, I bought a 2010 RZR-S in March. As the weather got warmer, the machine would act up at the end of long runs. When the engine is very warm....but not so warm that the engine light comes on....but when its been stressed....it then runs as if the engine is out of tune.....the smell of gas comes out of the exhaust....as it is not being all burnt. And it backfires when I let off the throttle. All the time it runs rough. But if I stop for a minimum of 20 minutes, and allow the engine to cool off a bit on hot days, and long runs, then it starts up as if nothing ever happened.
In the OCT issue of Car & Driver...page 127.....they are testing a 2010 RZR-S, and complain about this very same thing. They are told by the people at Polaris to reach under the dash and wiggle the wiring...and that will solve it. That's what my dealership also tells me to do. But they won't do any warranty work to try to locate the problem, but instead tell me to bring it in when its acting up. I tell them I can't do this, because it would be the next day...and the machine would have cooled off by then.
The engine saws code 61. But all books I look up only go to code 58. Even the mechanic doesn't understand what code 61 is all about. But a salesman at the dealership says that he was a a ride in the southern states this last summer, and another guy had problems....and it was code 61....and that dealership fixed the problem. He thinks they just re-set a setting, or something like that.
Can anyone help me out? Greg Schlieve, Eastern Washington
