2014 1000 Engine Spec's:

Bore/Stroke: 93mm X 73.5mm

Static Compression Ratio: 10.5:1

Engine Displacement in CI: 60.937118886 (61 CI)

Engine Displacement in CC: 998.96916206 (999 CC)

Final Drive Ratio/Front: 3.182:1

Final Drive Ratio/Rear: 3.53:1

Gear Reduction/High: 3.037:1

Gear Reduction/Low: 6.45:1

Gear Reduction/Reverse: 5.776:1

2014 900 Engine Spec's

Bore/Stroke: 93mm X 64.4mm

Static Compression Ratio: 10.5:1

Engine Displacement in CI: 53.392523241 (53 CI)

Engine Displacement in CC: 875.28726581 (875 CC)

Final Drive Ratio/Front: 3.82:1

Final Drive Ratio/Rear: 3.53:1

Gear Reduction/High: 3.037:1

Gear Reduction/Low: 6.45:1

Gear Reduction/Reverse: 5.776:1

All Spec's obtained from the respective Polaris Owners Manuals -- I computed the math conversions.

Just for FUN -- And IF .... One could use the 900 BB cylinder -- Here's how the numbers work out .. ..

Bore and Stroke to CC's:

95X73.5 = 1042 cc's

96X73.5 = 1064 cc's

98X73.5 = 1109 cc's (Think Turbo Application .. SWEET !!)

99X73.5 = 1132 cc's

Taking this one step further -- Calculating the crankshaft HP and bolting on a Turbo -- And using a very basic calculation .. Here's how the numbers work out .. ..

999cc @ 10.5:1 CR @ 10 PSI of Boost @ 500' Elevation @ 8500 RPM = 165 HP and 9000 RPM = 175 HP

Same as above at 15 PSI @ 8500 RPM = 199 HP and 9000 RPM = 211 HP

3 Big Bore calculations using the 98mm cylinder .. ..

1109cc @ 10.0:1 CR @ 10 PSI of Boost @ 500' Elevation @ 8500 RPM = 175 HP and 9000 RPM = 185 HP

Same as above at 15 PSI @ 8500 RPM = 210 HP and 9000 RPM = 223 HP

Same as above at 20 PSI @ 8500 RPM = 246 HP and 9000 RPM = 261 HP

Same as above at 25 PSI @ 8500 RPM = 267 HP and 9000 RPM = 282 HP

And for the Ballers ...............

Same as above at at 25 PSI @ 10000 RPM = 331 HP and 11000 RPM = 365 HP

I thought Polaris was claiming 999.6cc?
Polaris has been known to make an error in their engine specifications.

Case in Point -- When the 800 RzR was released -- I posted the true engine size based on the Polaris Bore and Stroke. Mr. Holz posted that my calculations were incorrect. I verified and posted that I was correct. Mr Holz then posted that Polaris mis represented the Stroke and posted the correct Stroke to which I re posted the correct engine size.

One may notice on my above post that the Final Drive Ratio/Front differs between the 2 machines.

I've not made a mistake -- I verified twice the information -- Is this another indication of a Polaris mistake??

Until some of the engine builders can verify the information I've posted and confirm -- This is what we have to work with at the moment.

Edit:

I went to the Shop and used my trusty Engine Calculator there and this is the Engine Size in CC's for the 1000 Engine:

998.5574845

Rounded off equates to 998.6 cc's.

Could Polaris have made just a simple mistake in stating the engine size of 999.6cc's when in fact by the Bore and Stroke they state in their Owners Manual calculates to an engine size of 998.6 cc's ??

Dunno -- I'm just an OLD Man ....... With a calculator -- And my thoughts .. .. :rofl3:

I was going a different direction for my next machine ......... But I'm not comfortable with what I'm seeing -- So when I get back in the Spring I'll pick one up unless .......... Polaris releases the 1200cc Turbo'd single seater -- Then I'll get this one .. .. :rofl3:

You adding one to your Fleet .. .. .. :question:

Really not sure, but never say never :), but will wait to see how they will do .
Deciding for 900 was easy, the more modern engine compare to 800, but 1000 is not so much different from 900 in that department . For sure will like more leg room of 1000. Plus I still have the Z1 turbo engine to put somewhere, but need more retirement project to keep me busy which could bring the 1000 in my shop too later on.... :ride:

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the 1000 has drive by wire throttle bodies?
