Enclosed Trailer Setup

As I try and decide which enclosed trailer to go with, I figured I would start asking about setup.

Anyone have any good ideas for storage of helmets, goggles, and riding gear? What is the best way to secure the RZR? I have seen some devices that look like wheel chocks. I am open to ideas. Also storage of fuel cans and miscellaneous tools and parts.

Wow there is quite a bit of options out there from overhead storage cabinets from aluminum gas can holders, helmet racks. Tons of threads on best way to secure your vehicle in your trailer. I just have 8 6000 lbs floor tie downs in my enclosed trailer.
Here is a pic of some helmet racks, gas can holders that I took out of my other enclosed when I had my custom trailer made. Btw these items are for sale . I used one of the 3 gas can holders in my new trailer. I glued down a rubber slip free mat inside the helmet and gas can holders.

I don't have any sensible input to this debate. I'm after a 20' enclosed to carry my 900xp, I've trawled the UK for a decent trailer but can't find one. So then thought I'd buy in the US and get it shipped. But the 20' trailer is 8 1/2' wide. So 8' 6". Would you believe it that the max width of a trailer in the UK is 8' 4 1/2". So it could be an expensive mistake to buy 1 and then find it unusable for 1 1/2".

Sorry rant over. I'll have to make do with looking at your trailer builds and thinking of what could be if they were 2" narrower.

It's hard to find a 20' enclosed that is not 8.5' wide. Even finding a 8' wide is rare. It's either 7ft or 8.5 wide in most sizes under 20 in length unless you go custom made. Even my 18' is 8.5 wide which I love having the extra room inside.

I thought buying a 20' in the US would be the perfect solution. But after checking on the towing laws in the UK my plan was sunk in seconds. Glad I didn't spend out on a trailer before completing my research.
Chances are no one would notice or be that bothered but it's still a gamble that you won't get stopped. Or if the worst happens and the Police measure the trailer and then invalidate the insurance.
I was only saying the other day on here that I thought the US was backwards with it's laws on using a RZR on the roads but then days later it's the UK with daft laws on towing.

I use a 28' Continental Cargo race trailer, fully outfitted inside (and out) with storage (you can see the cabinets in one of the pics), workbench, etc. Pricey, but almost a necessity for my main hobby - road racing. So, when I need to haul the 2 machines I load them up and we hit the road. E-track is very useful, get it on both sides front to rear, it gives you unlimited options. Just noticed the pix are posting upside down LOL...that makes it fun!

iphone - normal way I use it. Photos appear normal on my computer, Facebook, etc....

How much room do you have in the front with both rzr's in the trailer?
I have a few feet before the front RZR hits the cabinets/workbench (that alone takes up 2-3 feet, it is a ceiling-to-floor setup). There is enough distance between the 2 RZRs for my lardbutt to get in between them as well as also behind the rear-most RZR with the door/flap up/closed. In other words, there's several feet of room left. Without the cabinets/workbench there would be several more feet, same if I moved the rear-most RZR further back.

I should mention that I only use this trailer (for RZR use) when hauling two RZRs, which is only once or twice a year. It's a major PITA. The picture of the truck and trailer was taken at Mena, AR....8 miles down a dirt road that got narrower and narrower and steeper....then we came to the driveway of the cabin....thank goodness I have low-range/4x4 (6x6? LOL)...the rear of the trailer was DRAGGING a long ways up, it was a very steep "driveway" composed of loose scree. Turning around was another matter in and of itself. For a really fun time I tow that behind my coach when we are racing....but the tracks we go to always have good parking facilities, the ones where it gets tight (Daytona) have forklifts to maneuver into tight spots.

Oh, need to mention: BOGEY WHEELS - get them! These are the large rolling wheels that save your trailer, because the longer it is the more it will drag....

For "everyday" RZR towing I use a 14' open utility trailer. Much easier. That's what I store my XP4T on in the garage bay, always ready to go! There is something nice about an enclosed trailer though....tools, spares, air (nitrogen in my case), all of your stuff stays dry, it's a good shelter, etc.

8.5 is unnecessarily wide IMHO.

I use an 8.5 trailer too, primarily as a car hauler, which pulls double duty hauling the RZR. That width is difficult to get into some of the ATV parking lot and trail heads which typically have more narrow access roads. That's a lot of trailer to be pushing all the way to the outer edges on a narrow road.

Also you may likely require additional height to clear the taller rigs. Run a 30" plus tire with a stock cage and you're likely over the standard 6' door opening. Additional height is a hard thing to find second-hand or in dealer stock so often that means a factory order.

Here's my 18x8.5 10k GVWR enclosed car-hauler w/12" extra height for reference:

I have a 8 1/2X 16 plus a 3 foot V nose. I can put my full size cruiser in the V and the RZR XP1000 to the rear.
When the motorcycle is not being towed I have to move the RZR forward for road stability.
I went with the track system for tie down for the ultimate flexibility.
Plenty of room for upper cabinet storage, spare parts, and fuel.

Hope its not a cargo craft v elite! Mine fell apart in 3 months, was built out of square, was chewing up tires, wagged like a stoned dog at 60 mph, the enclosure box was popping screws out and panels were all wavy. Didnt like towing a wind sail behind me. Went back to a basic diamond open utility twin 3500 lb axle lift gate trailer. sooo much easier. Bought the POS cargo craft new from Castle Rock trailers....just a heads up!

I bought a Freedom enclosed and picked it up at the factory in South Georgia a year ago for half what I could have bought it for in North Texas. 12K miles later, it looks, acts, and feels like new. They also took my XC's dimensions and added width and height to fit it. And installed welded flush e track. Guess you can tell I'm a fan.

Un-related to hauling a RZR but my youngest son is heavy into snowmobiles. He had a wonderful open aluminum trailer with the salt guard shield and all. Got the idea he wanted a enclosed trailer and purchased a top of the line something. It lasted for one trip North, it towed like hauling a brick wall down the road, even with the V and his gas mileage dropped almost to the point where he was going to turn around and head home.

Next thing I know he had traded for nearly the same open setup he sold.

I have a 20' Mirage car trailer I can fit two RZR 1000. room for the gas cans down the side plus room for folding chairs. I use over the tire tie downs from US Cargo in Iowa. The tie downs are very well made and are 24.95 plus shipping. It has a rear ramp door. Make sure that any trailer you buy is tall enough You need 74" height clearance. A lot of trailer are only 66" You get strong tie down rings at Harbor Freight.
