DUSTED

I got the bad news on my 570 rzr with 1600 miles. It has sucked some dust in causing the valves and rings to wear and lost compression. Repair cost is around $900. I have replaced the air filter 5 times in the 1600 miles I have owned it and always used stock polaris filters. I always greased the bottom seal and and wiped out air box before installing the filter. I do not know of anything I could have done to prevent this. The paper filter and air box design of this polaris is a joke. This is not the first 570 at this dealership to have this porblem. Actually it sounded pretty common in talking to them. I had extended warranty but they will not cover anything. They told me I should have vacuumed the filter after every ride and replaced it more often. WHere does it say that in the owners manual? I am getting it fixed but am hesitant to drive it again until I can find a better filter for it. On my 800 I have the fleetguard and never see any dust on the second stage filter. Polaris needs something sililar for the 570. If I can't find a better air filter I will be looking for a different machine.

sorry to hear, my 570 has me nervous especially after the crap intake setup it came with. I greased both sides of the lip on my air filter, got an airfilter squeeze shim from UTV INC and Im also thinking of keeping the prefilter at drivers side fender oiled...I think Im doing that right now actually.

You know as common a problem as this is what needs to happen is find a lawyer and sue both the dealer and polaris. It would go to small claims court and since the manual says nothing about what they told you it would definately fall into normal wear and tear. Im not saying you would win, you might but if enough people did this it would make polaris think twice. I persoanlly know a friend with an auto that did just this and won. T he dealer didnt even show up and they ended up having to file an injunction to make them pay but none the less lol. Just sucks that polaris is that f'd up with customer service.

I noticed a bit of fine dust in mine is why I did the intake shim, the cam locks feel much tighter now. The shim I bought was made from aluminum and I glued it to the lid of the air box. I also grease the air filter edges and while I was In there I dumped a pile of grease in the very bottom of my air box and wiped it around a bit so If any dirt or dust makes its way in there hopefully it stays stuck to that instead of entering the engine...

Mine has stayed clean so far, but it only has 200 miles on it. I would recommend lightly oiling the outside filter on the side. We did that, and you can see a lot of dust getting caught in there. My air box has been completely clean so far. I am thinking of going to a oiled foam filter for inside. Polaris dealer told me only to use the paper filters, and I'm guessing that is just so he can sell me a new one.

I have been working on some improvements for the air filtration. I think I can modify a fleetguard inner fine dirt filter from a RZR 800 fleetguard filter to go in the air box under the paper filter. I will post pictures after I get the machine back. I also took the air box to a parts store and looked up some air filters from the air box measurements. It looks like a 1989 volvo 740 air filter has the same dimensions as the 570 rzr. I have a wix filter coming and will see how it fits. It can't be any worse than the polaris. I also have some uni foam sheets coming and a smaller unifilter that should fit in the air box under the paper filter if the fleetguard does not work. I think I can use the foam sheets to go in the air inlet on the fender.

curious...You have an extended warranty in hand and they did nothing? Is this the dealer or have you contacted Polaris directly? I would call them everyday, write letters and emails, and be their worst nightmare until they agreed to fix it. If you bought the filters from the dealer they may have the sales receipts for them on computer. I'd ask for them...I own and operate a sales and service type business and learned many years ago that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"...I've had a few customers I took care of, even though we both knew they were in the wrong...Good luck to you!..

Yes, Mike is right; the squeaky wheel theory. Keep nagging the dealer and Polaris both; find out who the regional rep is and pester them too.

Wow this air filter and air intake tube issue is getting stupid. Polaris knows all about it but when you call they claim ignorance to these issues. or the dealer claims they don't have a clue. I called and asked my dealer about the air intake tube on my 13. and they told me the TSB was for what Polaris is calling a miss assembly problem with the tube I told them its not the assy that is the problem its a design problem it doesn't stay on it.

So you spend $10.000 and then you have to completely redesign the air intake system or wait until the motor gets toasted. Or it backfires all the time and Polaris or the dealer has no clue what you are talking about!!

But hey its ok it will last 6 months then its the customers problem :rm_thumbdown:

This is my 5th Polaris product from new. now im wondering if I should start looking else ware for my needs

Someone needs to forward this thread to a customer service rep at Polaris...(surely there has to be someone there that does this...lol) The Rzr is popular because of guys like us, and guys like us can start buying something else if they won't listen to our complaints...When you pay north of 10 grand for something, you don't expect to have to re-engineer the thing. I just modded my air tube on mine, with all of 2 hours on it...and I will be watching it closely.

I purchased the WIx air filter today, part number, 46198. It is a perfect fit and is a dual stage filter with a guaze filter medium over the paper filter accordian filter. It only cost $13 at Oreilly's. I think the WIX filter is a huge improvment over the stock polaris filter. I also found that UNi is now making a oil treated foam filter for the 570 that is a direct replacement for the polaris filter. I plan on using a wix filter on top and using a round UNI filter for a motorcycle in the air box. A 1 1/2 inch PVC coupler fits inside the throttle body boot inside the air box. Then a oil treated UNI filter motorcycle filter will attach to the PVC coupler giving me a extra filter. 2 large hose clamps will keep everything tight inside the air box.

Pix as soon as possible please?

i just tried to get that WIX filter in the airbox and it would not fit my 2012 570. the filter was the same dimensions but the paper element was wider (went out farther towards edge of filter) and would not go up into the air box lid properly....i tried it every which way and it would not go...woulda been nice as the lip seal woulda been wider than the stocker...i have a shim in mine anyway but that WIX filter woulda saved some coin!

my airbox is different than the one posted above...that must be a 2013????????

my bad, the airbox in the pic above is the bottom half of airbox...

I could not get the WIX filter to fit inside the top half (cover) of airbox.....fits the bottom fine but the cover wont go on....
