We parked along the ridge for years before vender row moved to that area. A couple of years ago we started parking in the canyon. Also its a great area for kids and grandkids to ride all of the small hills and trials to ride on. When the wind comes up and blows hard on top. In the canyon you will have a light wind and you can still enjoy your camp or being outside. Also your out of the dust bowl and nobody running thru your camp.

Would be interested in a group camp. We come from Co by ourselves, so riding partners would be great. Usually camp at the first finger. Don't know where the canyons are. Have a 40,000 lb rig without 4x4. Getting stuck is not an option. Where on the Dumont grid map?

Been hitting Thanksgiving at Dumont what seems like forever.
We camp with the Dumont Sand Dunes .com group.
I couldn't imagine Thanksgiving without Dumont, and Broguries Egg nog, etc,, etc,,,

With the economy tanked,, we'll amp up Thanksgiving even more this year.

When you get passed the pay area just before the road turns to the right to go up the hill you turn left thats the canyon. Last friday night saturday morning the wind came up hard it was windy in the canyon not bad. A friend parked on top said the wind and dust was very bad. Thats why we like parking down there.
