Any ideas on how I can mount an Incredible? All of the vehicle mounts I have seen are light duty windshield mounts. However, I want something tougher and more secure.

Because the Droid system uses Google Maps, which in turn offers satellite imagery, I find that, at least when riding somewhere near civilization, it can be a great tool to record routes, etc.

RAM would be ideal as I already have a handful of components, but they don't make a cradle like the iPhone cradle. They make a friction/pressure mount similar to the one DMSRacing linked to.

Do these friction mounts provide enough hold? My fear is hitting a bump, etc. and sending the phone flying somewhere.

I always make sure mine is clamped in nice and tight and I've never had an issue, and I ride pretty hard. I really like to jump. :ride: I'll give you some more feed back when I get back from the dunes later this month.

Got the car mount from Verizon and here is what I did.........
Is it possible to suction the mount to the paint on the hood? I like the cradle but would want to keep it out of the muddy areas. :ride:
Yes. I have a gopro and I have suctioned it and it never came off once. Also if you look closely you will see a little lip where the suction cup is meeting the metal plate, that is a plastic circle that has really good 3m sticky tape and you could stick that to your dash and the suction cup would clamp to it. With my gopro there was a little bit of vibration when at idle with it stuck to the dash. It goes away as soon as you start to move.

here's what i did - the mount is a "pro-clip" off their website - look under "rv mount" - i used 3M VHB (very high bond) 2face tape - stick it literally anywhere no screws (unless you want) - same mount on all my work vehicles and john deere tractors - has a ball feature to screw tight -it is trail worthy, beat it for 4 hours at badlands, IN without issue and i can complain pretty fast. one cool feature it has is 90 degree quick rotation (for horizontal website viewing) yes there is provision for the on/ off button and opening for 12v/120v charger. foot note: right where i put it works good for the thumb forefinger spread feature, vertical or horizontal (seemed awkward in other locations around the dash).

Just a belated thanks for everyone's replies. I went with the ProClip mount as it seemed the most solid. I read good things about the Verizon OEM cradle, but also read the arms occasionally break (but are replaced under warranty). I didn't want to have any issues when I hit the rough stuff.

heres a shot of how to use that same mount in a work vehicle.
when im driving (and gear shift lever is in "d" position) my right hand can rest there and allows somewhat smooth use of thumb and forefinger to do that 'spread screen" thing.
trying to manipulate this family of phones AT ALL when driving can be either very unsafe or at least a little bit safer. at least mounted there my eyes are still almost straight ahead and watching the road.
also shown is a better view of the ball style mount, tape visible. also gonna try a ziplock bag on the trail w/ rubber band.

i liked what the vegas guy said in his air bag thread "im new at this" or "i dont know any better" something like that here too.

all in good fun - back to makin signs..........

yes, badic, saw that one in our local verizon store. glad to hear it holds up. the plastic looked and felt real cheap and was the size of texas.
the ProClips are (feels like) a glass filled nylon 15%glass, that is, w/talc in mold. really professional. their site has mega options for going vehicle to vehicle, male to female, male to male, adapters, wedges. others here may find the "modular" thing desirable. and affordable.

the new Polaris Company will need a try out dude, would you be interested? are you willing to ride with a panda? all in good fun
