Bad Battery you should have 12.8 volts at the battery before trying to start it. 12 volts at the starter would be a bad battery. As soon as you turn the key it drastically drops then look at the battery.
I'm not sure about the 900 and 900 "S" engines, but I think I've read about the xp900 engines having starter dragging issues. But I can't remember the cause or the fix. But might be worth researching on here.
Also could simply be a bad wire connection. I've seen it before with starter wires on cars. Or a bad solenoid. Personally I would check my battery wires for looseness and corrosion. Also a bad ground can cause the same thing.
Honestly if your voltage is dropping all the way down to 0.1 volts from 12.9 then I'm gonna bet bad connection of some kind. I had a completely locked up starter and it still had 6-7 volts when I would try to start it.
