Early this week I asked what people were using for coolers.
My preferred drink is Sam Adams which only comes in bottles. Thus, the cooler has to be a little taller then the standard folding cooler and needs to offer extra padding. Something with sleeves/pockets inside to keep the glass from bouncing off each other would be ideal. I didn’t want to be so bold as to strap down a cooler to the bed because Forest Rangers have been know to patrol the area were we ride.
After browsing different sites I came across a page with gas cans and coolers on it. Then it hit me. A cooler that looks like a gas can.
Using 2 gas cans (5 Gallon), 3 inch PVC, and spray insulation, this is what I came up with.
I cut the cans in half. Using the bottom of one as base and the top of the other can as the lid. I then cut 9 inch sections of PVC, taped them together and placed them in the base. Next step was filling the empty spaces around the tubes.
