So....I bought Rhino axles for my rear well over a year ago...Zero issues. Happy camper.

My front....not so much. I bought a Rhino in the front to replace a broken OEM CV. The first time I rode it...it popped out constantly. Dealer called....they said we'll send you new square clips. Ok..fine. They popped out constantly....the dealer called and said they are too short, but they wouldn't replace the axle. So I put stock back in the front...no issues.

Now...I'm running King of the Hammers, so I need a stronger CV.....knowing that Rhino wasn't an option, since I have one laying on a shelf that's worthless.... I'm not the only with this problem, BTW

I decided to go with Cobra Axles....I called them up...they're in Houston. They sent out the axles that day....and arrived UPS a few days later.

So.....Saturday, I yanked out the stock axles.....and thought...let me settle this once and for all.....Yes...We've spent lots of time on the phone trying to resolve this with SuperATV to no avail....so here's the proof MY AXLE IS TOO SHORT!

Here's all 3 axles in their relaxed or neutral state. You tell me, which one pops out any time the suspension cycles??

Here's the exact amount it's too short

Cobras...installed and working perfectly

And the question is...what about fully pulled out? In order for the Rhino to come CLOSE...still not long enough...Close....I have pull them apart with everything I have.....The boots are ridiculously stretched out, with obviously more force than the clip can hold.

Pulled to his absolute limit.

It's still about 3/8" shorter.

Maybe they've fixed them....I wouldn't know.....but there is no doubt...my axle is too short and I don't care if my clip was round, square, oblong or scalene....it wouldn't hold that axle in. No way.

I have a bitchin' paper weight.

Are these cobra axles pretty strong,

My dealer (who is a SuperATV vendor) spent time on the phone with them, and they were adamant that it was the right one. They sent square clips and said that would fix the problem. It didn't.

I don't think it would fit a RZR S either....it's about 2 inches or so short...and doesn't compress that much more...and it would need to compress 2" inches for an S.

The strange part...my rear Rhino axles haven't given me a lick of trouble in 18 months of rock crawling use.

Yeah, that's not even close. You couldn't give it back, NO? Those Cobra's do look nice; I realize it's not very important, but I really like the gray. Can you send in your stockers (like a core charge)...curious because it looks like they may weld an RZR stub to some auto (car/light truck) CV maybe and clean it up in the lathe. I could be wrong, maybe the cup and stub are one, it's hard to tell. Best of luck at KOH!

We tried to send it back. All they would do was send square clips. The axle is too short...period. End of story.

I don't know about core. They clearly build these themselves there....so I'm sure they can do whatever you want.

I have kept my stock front and rear front...and they will be spares for the race.

Just curious, could you measure the length of the axle shaft between the boots on the Rhino axle. I just installed Rhinos in my xp and I'm wondering if they are different than yours.

Inside big boot band to inside big boot band.....was 19 1/2" long on the Rhino.

Stock is 21 1/2".

From inside band/rubber boot (so basically the exposed axle shaft) on stock is 14 1/2"

Rhino is 12 1/4"

I'd be curious how long yours are.

My axle is TOO SHORT. Anyway you slice or dice it. What a waste of money. I've spent nearly $12,000 in accessories and race related stuff....Super ATV sure didn't take care of someone who has spent a LOT of money. When my rear Rhino's break (and they will eventually, through no fault of their own)....I won't be buying another, just because I was treated arrogantly and indignantly instead of thoughtfully. When we told them the axle was short....they said..no it's not...here's some square clips. Instead, when we said it was too short...they should have said...can you measure it for us?

My Rhino's measure 13" of exposed axle shaft.

I don't get it. It's not the right axle. There's no leg to stand on...just scratching my head here. Anyway, many thanks for the info gave them a call yesterday, spoke with Joe, super nice guy. I'm actually looking for the best CV joint (only) supplier I can find. The axle shaft diameter on the Cobra's is actually larger than the minor diameter of the Polaris splines (into diff/hub)!!!...SO, if those CVs/splines hold up, they are probably very good because ALL the load transfer is going through them. Obviously very interested in how you get on with them at KOH, please keep us posted..

I concur...they are not the right axle. It's pretty obvious that SuperATV just wants to walk away....they haven't posted...or sent me more square clips. :rofl3:

I will definitely report back on the result with the Cobra Axles. Since we know we're doing Wrecking Ball....it should be interesting!!

I wonder if you removed the boot band and moved the boot on the axle towards the inner CV if it would help keep from pulling out? I know they are shorter than stock when fully extended but that should get their normal length closer to stock, which may help.

When I first put my rear Rhinos on, the boots were stretched way out. Even just sitting at ride height they were stretched so bad the boot was sucking in. At full droop it looked like they would tear. I called and they said it was normal but if it made me feel better I could remove the boot band and push the end of the boot farther up on the axle so it wasnt so stretched. I did that and it looked much better. I just had lots of issues with CVs pulling apart.

Way to go. Funny how many posts in this thread with zero vendor response.
But mention you wanna buy something...and WHAM...there they are.

I'll make it easy.....Buy Cobra Axles....they're the right length....now I'm sure you can break Cobra Axles.....but you'll have to work at it.

atvobsession- this is the first I have heard/seen of this thread I apologize for your frustrations with your axle. I have sent over a PM to see if we can resolve this issues. I am more then willing to get you fixed up. The front axles we provide for the XP900 are not to short, I am unsure what you have going on. Our Rhino brand XP 900 Front axles helped Mitch Guthrie take 1st place at the King of the Hammers in both 2012 and 2013.

I have a rhino axle in the front of my xp. The other day I broke a front tie rod and drove the rzr up the truck with the left front wheel ( side with the rhino axle) flopping back and forth , the cv was WAY over extended because of no tie rod , i figured for sure I was going to bust the cv and it didnt do anything, everyone was pretty impressed it held up and never once did it pop out of my diff. If it was to short, it would have popped out then. Just my experence. I did buy superatv tie rods and they are way beefy.
