I was at the dealership asking about clutch kits for my 2011 xp. They told me I wouldn't get that much out of it and they eat up belts like crazy. It doesn't sound right to me so I'm asking for help. Razr is stock. What to you think?

I'll never put a clutch kit on a stock machine, I see the need when running bigger tires like 30's but everyone I know who has a clutch kit on a stock machine regrets it. It launches harder off the line but they lost 5mph top speed or it grabs harder with no slip but it eats belts. At least that's the story with the guys I dune with. Personally, I've been riding Polaris' since the mid 90's and my XP4 clutch is the best performing of all of them.

I don't see much gain on the rzr. The belt doesn't slip now, I have 2400 miles on mine with the stock belt.

I know snowmobiles always had bigger gain but they are double the hp over the rzr. Even on sleds there was never a huge gain on Polaris just skidoo.

I would only clutch mine if I did power mods to it. I ride all fast running and like the top end I don't care if it doesn't launch off the line as hard because I don't sit there and drag race people

The clutching is good stock but the quicker response comes in handy on the trails. I've not seen any speed loss in the dirt or sand. The weights are adjustable for future mods and or bigger tires that's a key factor as I have tires on order that should be in today and intend on performance mods in the near future. Also withthe added weight of bumpers, skids, winches and cargo it seems to help.

The stock clutching on any machine is meant to be a "one size fits all" setup. Some folks like smooth low rpm engagement, and others like a hard launch and higher shiftout.

And stock machine can be clutched to gain more bottom and mid with no top end loss. Its not like your spacing the sheaves to gain bottom end, which means losing top end. This is simply weights and springs. Ill be trying the QSC kit soon as its only 209.

I was wondering about putting a one way bearing in my clutch to make it better on downhill grades, I don't like how the XP clutch just "lets go" when going down a hill, my last bikes were Outlanders and they have some of the best engine braking in the business. I'm not a big fan of driving with one foot on the brake and one on the gas...I also would like to get a better low end engagement for riding slow rocky trails, I don't drag race or ride at the high speeds very often, I'm kinda low and slow...

any advice for how to get my clutch to do this?

The whole idea behind a clutch kit is to put the power where you use it. In my case primarily in the dunes I want my clutch to work between 30 and 45 mph. I don't really care about whether I am going 70, 75 or 80 mph. I don't ride at those speeds most of the time.
