Went on a ride where I had to go fast up a very steep incline. About 20 feet from the top I hit some really soft sand and sank in pretty deep. Tried to power out first in high then low gear...no good. Put it in reverse and powered out until I was able to go around that area and made it to the top. Smelled the belt and figured I blew it. After stopping for any reason and then going again it makes a loud clunking noise and lurches forward. Once it goes a few feet it runs great...no clunking or noise. When I got home to check the belt I couldn't see anything that looked very bad other than a bit of glazing in a few places.
I haven't been able to replace the belt yet but was wondering what the clunking and lurching could indicate. Any help will be appreciated. Thx in advance. I have a 2017 XP1000 T&R gold.

Agree. It's from smoking the belt. Mine did the same thing. Put a new gates belt on. It lasted about 400 miles. Go with the Polaris OEM belt. New belt, no more jerk.
