Stupid question bu How do you check the oil on the rzr 900XP? Cold, while running, or shut down after warmed up? Thanks

Check it cold, on a level surface, after it has been sitting overnight, just before you go for a ride. At any other time or place, you won't get an accurate read. My two-bits......

Cheers

On the 2013 you check cold after eng runs 30 seconds, off 15 sec then check
from 2013 owners manual.Should say how to check oil in your owners manual for the 12.

If the 2012 is the same as the 2011 (should be), Engine must be cold. Start engine for 30 seconds, Shut off engine. WAIT 15 seconds then remove and wipe the dipstick clean. Reinstall dipstick COMPLETELY. Yes, screw it in. Remove and check.

There should even be a sticker on the oil tank cover that says all of this. - http://i.onfinite.com/MMV69rk5d.jpg

Again, I'm pretty sure 2012 is the same as the 2011 (has the dry sump oil tank under the "cargo" bed).

Heres some extra help if needed - http://www.purepolarisoil.com/pdf/RZR XP 900 Oil Change.pdf

And YES, the oil MUST be cold. I have double and triple checked. Hot or even warm oil will give you a wrong level indication. If its hot/warm it will read high.
