what are the rpms at 30mph?

 

I never looked, I had it on the temp setting. I will take it out tomorrow, too late now. My neighbors would be pissed if I was driving around this late.lol All I remember is that it hit 25mph pretty quick but to get to 30mph I had the pedal to the floor and it took about 10sec.

 

Maybe its in limp mode?

Try doing a search on throtle cable play or adjustment. If I remember right there has been a couple posts about guys not getting top speeds because of throtle cable not being adjusted. Unless your at high rpms at 30 then you have a clutch issue I think.

 

I had the throttle body off and the butterfly opens all the way when the pedal is it the floor. Is this what your taking about?

 

I was in high gear. What causes limp mode?

 

Secondary clutch.
Check the rollers.
Ive seen 4 now that were junk. All were 2011's.
Bad maching on the helix and jacked up rollers.
Including my own. Took 800-900 miles before secondary just wouldnt open much.
Mine was wide open on the limiter at 42mph.

 

My rollers looked fine but the helix looked worn out to me. I'll get it apart tomorrow and take picks.

 

did yo take the tps off... if so you messed up the adj... but sounds like a clutch issue

 

It kinda sounds like the belt is worn out. Mine wasn't that extreme but it had gotten to the point where it wouldn't go past 45. Turned out the belt was just worn out.

 

I did set the TPS but I'll check it again. My max RPM is 4100. Any suggestions?

 

Check the spark plugs. Mine was acted like it wasnt getting any gas and wouldnt go about about 20mph. I got it home and rode it the next day and it was fine. Rode it another day and it did it for a minute and then quit. i then checked the spark plugs and cleaned them and put some grease around the boot and it ran fine. i let it sit for a little while to go do other things then came back to test ride it and it was riding like it firing off one cylinder. I checked the spark plugs and I had put to much grease on the boot and it wasnt getting any grip and ratteling out. i cleaned the boot and so far it has been running fine. I think my spark plug boot was just a little loose.

This may not be your problem but it wont hurt to check

 

Spark is good, I reset the TPS to .738 and made sure the butterfly was open at full throttle. doesn't make sense why I only get to 4100 RPM. Lets say the clutches are bad I should still get to the rev limit shouldn't I? I can hit the rev limit in park or neutral just not in gear. I'm suspecting the clutches..

.735 is set with throttle closed. Full throttle will give you about 3.??? Volts

 

Check fuel pressure one of the guys I ride with his wouldn't go over 50 and the fuel pressure was low

I got a new secondary, belt and clutch kit coming. Hopefully this will fix my problem.

 

you said you bought it from a junk yard ? how long did it set there ? is there a mouse nest in the filter housing ? and I have seen them fill a exhaust pipe to a point where they will not run right.

 

Salvage yard, not sure how long it sat there. I pretty much had to put everything from the dash bored back, back on so I don't think there are any nest. I was pretty thurough when I put it back together.

 

Check intake tract and spark arrestor,if they are good probably is clutch.:ride:

 

Could still be limp mode. Limp mode is designed to get you back to camp/civilization/your trailer at low rpm.

 

What causes this limp mode?

 

I had a problem like that. I was running a ump filter and some snorkels. The snorkels had the pre filter on them. When the little pre filter on the snorkel would get clogged up with sand the rzr would not get past 25 to 30 mph. As soon as I cleaned the pre filter off it would run fine. It would also rev up I park like nothing was wrong. But as soon as I would drive it would act up again till I cleaned the pre filter off.

 

I'm running the stock air filter, brand new filter in there.

 

What size wheels and tires are you running? It sounds clutch related but could be other things. Were you able to get pics?

 

Stock steel wheels and stock tires, was at the VA hospital all day doing post deployment physicals and stuff. I probably wont get to it until tomorrow.

 

Okay, maybe I missed it, but what year and model are we talking about here? I'll search my service manual.
