I am in the market for a used RZR 800. I dont know too much about them. Is this a good deal? Im wanting to use it as a trail rider and mud toy. Also If I wanted to go to a 6inch lift would I just need to add another 3 or would I have to buy a complete 6 inch lift? Also, does anyone know what the cost is of the 4 seat conversion you can put on these 2 seaters? Also with those size tires will I have axle problems?

2012 Polaris RZR 800 S
"The rzr S comes with the extended a arms, the fox shocks and the bigger fender flares, and a different clutch I believe, the add ons are mine has a 3 inch catvos lift, 31 inch outlaws 14 inch hd chrome wheels, windshield, rock sliders, 2 blue led whips , custom pearl white paint, custom built roof, ssv radio with iPod charger and 10 inch sub, yes that price for everything. It has 60 hours on it. The price being $12,300."

Well I think I have finally found the right RZR 800 for me.

2011 RZR- 1745 miles, 153 hours ($10,500) Looks very clean!

Rzr S Suspension; rzr s fender flares, rzr s seats, looney tuned dual exhaust, looney tuned fuel controller, snorkels, 2500lbs super winch, 30x9 gorilla silverbacks on front; 30x11 gorilla silverbacks on rear; 14 inch itp ss rims; High Lifter springs, cd player with ipod hookup; 400 watt amp; 4 8 inch bazooka wake tower speakers; color changing LED's in speakers; Rhino axles and some other small stuff.

It has pretty much everything I wanted on my RZR so cant pass up this package deal! Will save me a ton of money. Is 1745 miles and 153 hours bad? I do not have any experience with these RZR's. Is there a number that stuff starts going wrong or things start needing to be changed out? So what are yalls opinions on this set up for the price?

Thanks!!! Look forward to discussing things once I get out and start riding this beast!

Kinda seems like a lot of miles on it for what year it is. I would try get as much info on service that has been performed on the machine. Check condition of belt as well as bushings (squeeking) and cv boots. You don't want something that's been rhode hard and put away wet, as the saying goes.:redrzr:

I would check any prospective purchase over Very Carefully especially anything that has been snorkled to Me at least snorkel means it was abused & ran in deep mud/water,I am in the market for a Rzr Too but the more used ones I look at the more I am thinking of trying to find a deal on a leftover 2012

The guy says the snorkel has never been used and he babied it. But, yes I know how that works hahaha. It looks very very clean. I am going to give it a good look over and test drive Friday. I am pretty good with 4 wheelers but never worked on a RZR. Are there any obvious things I should look for or make sure is working properly?

Thanks!!

My whole issue is not wanting to pay a somewhat low price for a 2012 all stock RZR, because I know how expensive it is to build it up how I want it and then get screwed on the resale. And the guys that have heavily modded 2012 rzr's are wanting the cost of the RZR plus just about everything they have into it because they have not had it very long.

But, the other side to this argument is you would think if they already put all this "mudding" stuff on it, it has already been ragged out. I think (I dont know) that this guy was one of these guys that did it for looks only and did not want to tear it up. Thats why I am asking yall for the main things to check before buying a used RZR.

Thanks!!

Thanks dog catcher! I just thought it might be a real good deal if it has not been ridden hard and already has all of those aftermarket parts on it. Because even if I bought a stock RZR I would be putting pretty much all of the same mods on it, and they add up quick!!!

I'm not real sure that is a rzr s. The seats didn't come in the base red model and its not on the bed. You're liking at a $9,999 50" with probably a superatv lift. I would buy new and fix it up myself. That's part of the fun.

He never told me that it was a RZR S. he just has rzr s fenders, seats and suspension. It's easy to say buy new and fix up yourself (obviously the better route) because that's part of the fun when you have deep pockets, which I do not hahaha. But yeah I figured that its worth around $9,999. But with what RZRs are going for in my area, I might just cough up the extra $500 for all the mods, assuming I determine it hasn't been ragged out when I go look at it Friday.

Thanks!

I second any opinions on buying new or basic and building yourself. I am no expert with a wrench but at least I know exactly what I've done to mine and how I did it. On another note, I would NEVER purchase a rig with a snorkel on it no matter what the owner said. If you don't know them personally, NEVER trust anybody!

Just my 2cents

Yeah, I agree with you on the NEVER trust anyone! I'm just going to use my best judgment when I go look at it. Might even try to get him to let me run it up to the polaris house and get them to give it a once over.

Buy New and you know what you have. Even new these things have problems from the factory.
Buy used and who knows what you've got? Unless It was a friends and I rode with them regularly I'd be very cautious on buying on what someone said. To me it's like used cars. They can look all clean and shiny but the engine has had Slick 50 put In, the transmission is on the verge of breaking down, etc.
From your post, It seems like "emotion" is pushing this purchase. You've seen something that "looks just like you'd mod it", etc. etc. I'd low ball him and even then, It would make me curious If he would drop the price 2 grand???? what is wrong with it??? good luck

I'm working on a set of snorkels for mine. Honestly, I never hit water deeper than the floor boards but you never know what will happen.

During the summer I had the Scrambler out doing some creek riding, I found a sump hole dug by the coal mine 20 years ago. It was about 6 feet deep the creak prior to that was about 3 feet deep. I felt it go under and I turned it off before the intake went under. Was a mother pulling that thing out of there. Considering I rode the creek for about 10 miles.

Yeah, I know lots of people that have snorkels just as insurance but I also know people that drive through lakes haha. I know if I buy this I'm taking a gamble. Only thing I can do, if I decide to take the gamble, is to do my homework and that is why I am here just getting y'all's input and knowledge. Good or bad I greatly appreciate all the info! Making me worry a little though haha

No way I would buy a rzr set up for mud. Mine looks brand new with 4300+km on it and ive beat the living hell out of it from day one. Looks are deceiving. There's nothing wrong with mine it runs and drives like new other than it needs front a arm bushings again. I would feel bad selling mine to someone I know, in case something ended up going wrong with it. Buy new and do it up the way you want, it will be cheaper and less of a hassle in the long run.

Yall have almost talked me out of buying this rig haha. But I am at least going to go look at it tomorrow afternoon before making a decision. I know to check the ball joints, bearings, bushings and belt. And to check all of the fluids. He has already told me that the ball joints are wore a little but not bad and says that everything else is great. Can any of yall give me a quick rundown on how to check if the bushings, bearings and belt are ok. And I know to make sure that when I put it in gear and taking it out of gear that it feels tight and not sluggish and test all wheel options. Is there anything else that is easy to check that I need to make sure and check?

Also, about how much would it cost to replace all of the ball joints and bearings? How many miles do these RZR's get before the stock bearings, ball joints, belt etc.... start needing replacing?

Thanks!! Hopefully I can return the favor someday when I get more knowledgeable about these RZR's.

Well I gave $9000 for it. Guy found a boat he really wanted so he took my offer this morning. Only thing I can see wrong with it is the steering has a lot of play in it and ball joints are a little worn. I figure I can get all that fixed and still be ahead. Anyone know of any good Polaris mechanics in the DFW, Texas area? Thanks for y'all's help!

Thanks
