There is absolutely, positively, "no excuse" for quality defects in any manufacturing or assembly process. Period. Dot. Quality is built into the process. Why anyone would expect less is beyond me....

Polaris has no reason to do any better, people are buying new machines hand over fist! Even waiting for months and months to get one that is half assed built. While paying outragous prices. Meanwhile Polaris is laughing all the way to the bank. Just my opinion. And if I had 40k laying around I would be tempted to get one also! Lol!

I agree with you 100% and unfortunately it's not just Polaris. It's pretty much every company except maybe Honda/Yamaha. I have found disappointing stuff on my 2020 pro xp every time I've worked on it. Build quality sucks, hardware quality sucks, engineering sucks. I'm used to it though as I find the same thing in everything I buy that's not a normal highway vehicle.
Every RV, boat, motorcycle, atv, utv that I've ever bought has been a hacked together pile of junk that makes me want to shove it up the dealer's chocolate starfish until I have had my hands all over it to fix/modify all the things I don't like.

I bought an extended warranty for just this reason (not a Polaris warranty). It is good for 5 years with no deductible and made the dealer practically give it to me for free since I was forced to pay "sticker" for the machine. It is a must in this era of lousy quality control. Since factory warranty is 6 months... I have already used it twice, without any problems, and saved me about $1100. Can't say the fitment and such was as bad as pictured here but the overall quality just isn't there anymore.

I’m sorry to here that
Not to downplay the issues on your car but I received my Turbo R 4 about a month ago and I couldn’t be happier. I maybe speaking to soon but this car is near flawless. This is my fourth new Polaris over the last 10 years and I’m not sure if I’ve been lucky but 3 out of 4 cars were first year models and all have been great.
You are right that a car in the 40k range should have better quality control. With that said I’d still take the RZR over a canned ham anyday
Good luck and hope you don’t have any major issues and can enjoy the new toy

who did you get the warranty thru ,dealer only offered polaris
RPM Plus warranty... no deductible
I also got the Service Contract as well which any official Polaris Dealer will take. All the services that the Polaris maintenance schedule calls for during the warranty period are covered. Given labor in Phoenix is about $165/hour, the cost was 50% versus out of pocket. True, I can do much of it myself, but this keeps the warranty intact with no questions asked and I can fiddle with add-ons and such versus maintenance. It breaks - they fix!

It is across the board for manufacturers. Suppliers, materials and workforce shortages.

Heck, the NTSB has opened an investigation into Ford about "Catastrophic" engine failures on their new Bronco. Dropping valves.

I have seen it on my side of the production world.

So today I got a call from polaris themselves asking about this post and all my issues. That surprised the shot outa me. So that goes to show polaris most definitely watches this forum and watches it close for input and issues. I expressed my concerns with them and went into details about my issues. So we will c what happens. But they said they will be back in contact very soon. I also expressed that I don't believe this is all a polaris thing it's also dealer related. In theory the door gaps, tools left in my machine and diff leak should have been caught b4 it left the dealer. On another hand I also should have Inspected it closer b4 I took delivery. But then again I didn't thi k I needed to go over and Inspect a 45k machine. Very curious what happens from here.

So as I'm looking at my machine tonight I'm pulling my exhaust off. Went to pull it and noticed I'm completely missing the passenger side rubber isolator in the frame. Add that to the list I guess. Also noticed 2 different types of fasteners on the back plastics.

It’s a shame. Glad you went through it front to back.

This is kind of an ongoing issue.
My Brand New 2017 XPT was loaded on my trailer because of “insurance liabilities “ Abernathy’s.
In other words. The clutch alignment is so bad we don’t want you to know
It won’t shift into gear. The factory lower doors were so bad the doors would hardly close. If they did it was a PIA getting them open. Roll bar bolts loose. Some were put into the mounts opposite from one side to the other.
It was my 5th RZR and was a real rough first 45 days of ownership. Went in for clutch alignment we had to put it in gear and than start it. Would not shift.
Than it went back for 2 new primary clutch’s. Than a secondary. Different part numbers on them.
I fixed the doors my self. We did a new cage.
They took the rear shock off to work on the clutch and put the shock back on backwards. The shield was facing backwards. They gouged the hell out of the front A Arms while on the lift.

45 days waiting for parts. In between waiting for parts I’d take it home to work on installing my goodies. Roll it on and off the trailer!
Could not use it.
5+ years later it has a been a good machine after all the initial BS.
Hang in there. You definitely are becoming one with your new machine!!

Thanks for the detailed post and sorry to hear about the BS. But X2 on the post COVID world that’s how it all is now, from 80k trucks to 40k sxs to 15k atvs.

Sorry to mention Canned ham but We recently bought a 22 Can Am Outlander 850XMR and the first one lasted 3 hours, before it completely blew apart and lost all power leaving my kid on the side of the road.

We got him picked up quickly and took it back to the dealer, they IMMEDIATELY took in a bay (hey bay bay!!) and began to tear it apart and what they found what is on the assembly line they left the end cam plate completely out of the front head and the cam was allowed to slide over and around and beat itself to pieces in the upper head. Engine full of metal, it was toast. I raised hell and the dealer and Can Am actually replaced the entire unit not just engine with a new out of the crate bike and it’s been great every since.

Maybe some of the stuff can be addressed easily and then you have a tight nice machine with your custom touch. Dealers are keeping ones forever right now so you could choose to take it back and raise enough hell, also getting Polaris directly involved also makes a big difference.

Good luck hope it works out for you!! I’d say tighten up what you can and beat on it some more see if the loosen back up.
These factories anymore are running at 1/10 of what they used to and the ones that are there working can barely keep up so yeah a lot of shit is getting missed and shipped down the line, with demand so high and supply so low plus the low workforce it’s just disaster. I thankful my 2015 RZR XP 2 seater still rocks and don’t give me much problems. Back when they cost 18k 😁

So just figured I would post up what other people are seeing as far as build quality on the 22 cars. So I just received my turbo r 4 about a month ago. I'm one of those guys thay won't drive a machine until it's how I want it and I won't use it until it has most of the stuff on it I want. My car has 1.2 miles on it and it's never been ridden besides in and out of a trailer or in and out of my shop. I had tons of parts sitting for this thing since I waited 9 months to get it. So I started ripping it down the week after I got it. At this point I'm very disappointed in the build quality. Like very very disappointed. To the point I don't trust a single nut or bolt on it. Things I have found so far. So far I have pulled all the body work, cage, and most of the interior panels for wiring

*All front diff case bolts loose and some finger tight or backed out
* clamps for both the throttle bodies not tight
*roof scratched to he'll
*all coil springs have spots not fully powder coated
*trailing arms have multiple chips of the powder coat
* trim panel for front camera already has a plastic tab broken off it b4 I touched it
*total of 8 speed nuts already stripped out for the body work
*overall fit and finish is horrible for a mid 40k machine. Door gaps, dash fitment, rear plastics and tail lights feel extremely flimsy with literally 2 small bolts holding it all on to the suffrage
*rear oem window is a joke it's going in the trash. Doesn't even remotely fit.
*found a screw driver laying next to diff riding on the cv
*rear alignment not even close, like literally it had 2" of toe out
*front end alignment off and wheel to the left
*they still didn't close up the huge holes on the inner rear fenders that let's dust and crap into the cab.

Just overall complete lack of give a shit on the build quality. If polaris or any other brand wants to sell machines that are 40k+ they need to have the fit and finish of a oem vehicle. This has the fit and finish of a 9 grand new Kia back in 2000. I don't regret buythis thing it's just a warning to everyone who has bought one or is thinking about buying one. Spend the weekend to blow it down and check every nut and bolt. I spent the time and got all the gaps nice and it's now how it should have been. Here is a few pics of panel fitment and the random other things. I know some may say this is a dealer issue not polaris but I'm going to bed to differ on that one. The dealer gets paid to put the cage on, tq the wheels and check fluids. They don't get paid to check every single thing. THANK YOU! You did a great job and a great service to fellow enthusiast!!

Glad I came across this post! I am picking up a Turbo R this weekend or next weekend and will try to look over the unit as much as possible before taking delivery in case there is anything they can fix on the spot. A lot of it I'll have to go though when I start taking it apart, but hopefully some of the stuff can be corrected right then and there.

So I have been in touch with polaris directly and my dealer. Polaris wants to replace my front diff because of it leaking and all the loose bolts. I am also working with my dealer to get them to take the polaris back window back since it fits like crap and they are getting me the exhaust isolator that was missing. All in all polaris and the dealer are handling it. But at the end of the day the stuff still shouldn't be a isdue off the rip. My word of advice to anyone buying a new machine check it over with a fine tooth comb and get the dealer involved right away with any issues u have. As others have said I don't care of its a new canal or polaris check your stuff over very well. I have already fixed all my other issues myself. My only concern with all of this is leaving my machine at the dealer for who knows how long to get a diff replaced. I already have it out to tighten all the bolts and I plan on just taking my dealer the machine with the diff removed and they can put it back together.
