Drill, tap, screw in bolt with washer and nut, slide hammer.

military humvees have a threaded hole in the hub end of the half shafts to remove them with a slide hammer.

 

I'm sure that helped him out tremendously on his rzr!!

 

Depending on the diff, you may be able to remove the other side and pound it out from there.

Welding a bolt on to pull with would be much quicker than drilling and tapping. Ive done it both ways and both ways worked.. I’d give it a good PB blaster soaking too

Good job... I've pulled CV shafts from cars drilling, tapping and slide hammering out, but welding works too. IF you do drill and tap, remember it's hardened steel, requiring a cobalt bit in your drill motor. I have a stainless eye bolt I bought for just that application, use the hook tool on my slide hammer..

I am trying the drill/tap method, but it spins. Not enough material to grip and stop the remaining metal from spinning. Any suggestions?

 

Well, you could take a small wooden wedge, like the cedar wedges they use to hang doors and see if you can fit it in there to restrain the axle's rotation without screwing anything up, or weld an eye bolt to it to give the slide hammer something to grab onto..
