What is your goal here?

 

I'm wanting to connect the brake sensor lead from my led whip lights to the brake lights. Doing that will turn my whip lights red when the brakes are applied,

 

I'd try tapping into the + lead going to the brake lights if the whip has a lead for that purpose. Pretty cool if it works.

Here's a 3-year-old discussion on that - don't know if still applies.

 

OP here. After further research I don't think using the brake switch is the way to go. I'll just tie into the brake wiring at the rear.

 

The brake pressure switch is wired to the ECU. Use the tail light harness for a brake signal.

 

I was going to say... you're already back there, just tie into the brakes somewhere in the back

 

Actually my whips are mounted at roof level and the controller is up front on the firewall.

But taking the safest (electrical) route and will tie into that brakes at a taillight.

Oh, I was thinking normal wiring would go to the front and they had a separate lead for brake feature like on my chase light.

The ryco street legal kit has you tap into the wiring up front off the brake line, so it's definitely possible
